Many Are They That Rise Up

Many of us can identify with David’s plight when he was pursued by Absalom.

His own son had turned against him and sought to kill him so that he could rule over the kingdom. He sought to wrongfully inherit what did not belong to him.

Psalm 3

Let’s take a look at Psalm 3, A Psalm of David when he fled from Absalom his son.

Christians everywhere are familiar with King David and his story. We know that he was precious in the sight of God and He sought the heart of the Lord.

Throughout David’s life, he faced many adversaries and was considered to be a man always at war. This was his life, his purpose. In many ways, he was used by God as a protector of the people of Israel, one who God chose himself, to lead.

However, even though he faced enemies far and wide, David also had to fight battles and enemies close to home – within his own borders.

As children of God and especially His servants, we too are often faced with earthly and spiritual threats. The devil knows your purpose and he hates the children of God. He is a defeated foe. But, that does not stop him from always pursuing the children of God.

The bible already tells us that he goes about seeking who he may devour. He is always trying to steal, kill, and to destroy. As such, he sends his agents, human and otherwise to pursue the people of God.

But thanks be to God, they are fighting a losing battle. The war is already won and God shall destroy them, along with their evil master, the devil.

Though sometimes, you may feel that you are not on the winning side, stand strong.

In those moments, we must learn from David and pray.

Prayer Changes Things

Prayer is a powerful weapon against the enemy – both against human beings and spirits.

Prayer gives us direct access to our heavenly Father.

Prayer not only helps to build a relationship with God, but it can also be a battle cry.

Prayer lets the enemy know that your spiritual territory is at def con 1 and spiritual retaliation is imminent.

Prayer puts your angels on guard and they get into a position of readiness to execute the commands from heaven.

Prayer as declarations are commands given in the spiritual realm.

Prayer changes things.

Prayer is the foundation of spiritual warfare and the enemy, who is already defeated, is about to be defeated again, and again, and again and again.

Look at the Word’s of David’s Prayer

• Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.

David had enemies on the battlefield and he had enemies in his own house. He had enemies who despised him throughout Isreal and he had enemies who plotted and waited years, for a chance to take him down.

The first verse of Psalm chapter 3 is David admitting that he is fully aware that he is outnumbered and only God could save him.

• Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

David knew that his enemies thought that God would not save him. But, they were wrong. How many times have we read in the bible of how God saved David and his people?

• But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

David knew where his help came from.

• I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

Like many of us, David was a child of God. He was his chosen king and servant. David knew that God was his father, and no father can ignore the cries of his children.

So too must we cry out to God, for him to destroy our enemies.

So too must we appeal to the King of kings and Lord of Lords to intervene on our behalf.

So too must we use our God-given access to call in reinforcement from heaven.

God will hear our cries.

• I laid me down and slept; I awoke; for the Lord sustained me.

David could rest knowing that the great and mighty Ruler of heaven’s host was fighting for him. He was at peace, knowing that God sustained him.

• I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me roundabout.

Can you imagine seeing ten thousand people surrounding you? All trying to do you harm and to wipe you from the face of this earth?

But, like David, you should never be afraid; even if they have set themselves on every side.

Elisha, the prophet, prayed for his servant’s eyes to be opened when this very thing happened to him. Elisha was surrounded by thousands of soldiers. When his servant saw them, he was afraid, but Elisha was not afraid. Once the servant’s eyes were opened, he too saw that there was a host of angels surrounding the army, to protect Elisha.

• Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheekbone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

Pray, for this is the battle cry.

This is the appeal, which the God of heaven and earth, the ruler of heaven’s army cannot ignore from his chosen servants.

Arise, O Lord smite all my enemies.

Arise, O Lord break the cheekbone of our enemies.

Arise, Jehovah break the teeth of the ungodly.

May all those who pursue us, be destroyed by the fire of Heaven, in Jesus name.

• Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

This is true, for the children of God are forever blessed.

David could rest knowing that he was blessed and God would fight his enemies and utterly destroy them.

Be Encouraged

There is no power in heaven, on the earth, below the earth, or anywhere else in the universe that is greater than God.

The Lord God of heaven sees all, knows all and He is everywhere.

He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.

Spiritual Warfare Prayer

“Arise, O Lord God of heaven, defeat those who trouble me. Destroy their evil shrines and altars. Let the angels of the Lord encampeth round about me and fight against those that fight against me.

Release your mighty angels in the heavens and in the earth.

I bind every evil stronghold that come against my life, my family, my ministry and against the children of God. I command them to come out and go to a dry hot place touching nothing and no one. I send them to Jesus Christ for judgment.

May they be turned into confusion. May the eyes of the spies in my life be blinded. May every power that seeks my destruction be destroyed by the fire of heaven, in Jesus name, amen.”

Be at peace, for the Lord God sustains His children.

Remember, He is a just God, who gave His only Son, so that we too may have everlasting life and have it more abundantly. God loves you and he will fight for you.
