Better To Pray Than to Become a Prey

Psalms 27:11-12 (NKJV)

11 “Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. 12 Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, and such as breathe out violence.”

It is better to pray than to become prey to the enemy. It is better to seek God than to do nothing and wait for things in your life to escalate. It is better to allow God to fight for you when others are trying to pull you down or tarnish your reputation.

There are many people in the bible who went through treacherous times and had to pray so that they did not become prey to their enemies.

Jeremiah

Jeremiah was a prophet of God who faced many hardships. Some mostly because he was unwilling to be a prophet. However, he turned to God and prayed when his enemies put him in prison. If he didn’t could’ve become prey to his enemies.

God told him to “call upon me”.

Jeremiah: 33:1-3

“Moreover, the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it, the Lord is his name; call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

Hezekiah

When King Hezekiah was in trouble and his enemies blaspheme against God, and reproach him, he prayed to God. HIs enemies also said, “where is your God?”

For some of you, it is difficult to get up at night and pray. Your enemies try not to let you wake up. They try to discourage you from using one spiritual weapon that can defeat them. They prevent you from even knowing what you can do; but if you are reading this, you are taking the right steps.

You don’t need to fear.

You don’t need to tremble in a corner.

You don’t need to give up.

Just pray!

Just do what king Hezekiah did. King Hezekiah received the letter of reproach and battle from enemies, and he took it to God in prayer. Just read 2 Kings 19:1-37.

Daniel

Daniel found favor with several kings in Babylon, making him second in the command below them. And as such his peers grew to despise him. These included fellow presidents and princes. He had an excellent spirit in him because he knew God and he could pray.

The holy bible told us that Daniel went on his knees three times a day and prayed. Psalms 50:15 states “And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee and thou shalt glorify me.”

If Daniel did not know God and how to pray, he could’ve become prey to the enemy. Just read Daniel 6:1-28.

Only God can deliver and rescue you from the hand of the enemy. 

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

King Nebuchadnezzar told Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego that “who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?”

But because they knew God, and had confidence in His power, they replied to the king. They told him that “our God whom we serve will deliver us out of thine hand O king.”

They were not afraid of him; even when they were faced with a fiery pit.

They did not cry.

They did not tremble or back down.

My beloved let us continue to pray. Do not become prey to the enemy. Jesus told us to pray always and not to give up. When we pray to God, he will avenge us from our enemy, Luke: 18:1-8.

Take comfort.

Don’t wait until enemies or wicked people rise up against you before you pray. Psalms 91:15 says, “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.”

May God help, protect, and guide us in Jesus’ name.

Psalms: 92:1:-11

27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.

9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

13 I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalms 23:4-5 also states,

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anoints my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”

Amen. 

Meditate on God’s Word

Many Christians struggle daily to live according to God’s word. But we need daily nourishment. That is why it is important to read your bible daily; even if it is a few verses and meditate on them.
