Sunday Sermon: Breaking the Siege of the Enemy Over Your Mind
by Minister Denise N. Fyffe

I want to talk to you today from a place of deep personal reality. We are all born into a war. It is not a war you can opt out of; it is a battle for your soul, your peace, and your very destiny.
Over the last few months, I have felt like the gates of hell were literally parked at my front door. I have faced stress, physical pain from fibroids and anemia, discrimination, and a series of mysterious occurrences that would make anyone want to pull the covers over their head and never come out. But I am still here. I am still standing because I have learned that while the enemy may launch an attack, he does not have the final say.
Standing and Facing the Enemy
When I was saved at the age of twelve in 1993, I thought being a Christian meant the battle was over. I quickly realized it was just beginning. I became a target.
For years, I have dealt with physical manifestations of warfare, like being stifled in my sleep or facing unprovoked vitriol in the workplace. If you have ever felt like you are traversing a minefield at home or at work, where every step results in a new bruise or injury, then you know exactly what I am talking about.
Many of you send in prayer requests describing this exact feeling—feeling “stuck,” “invisible,” or “exhausted from waiting”.
Stand on God’s Word
The Bible provides us with a powerful anchor in Jeremiah 1:19: “They will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you,” says the Lord, “to deliver you”.
Notice that God does not say they won’t fight. He says they will not win. The battle often starts in the mind because the mind is the gateway to your spirit. If the devil can get you to believe the lie of your inadequacy or the permanence of your pain, he has won a foothold.
Consider the story of Job.
He was a man highly favored by God, yet he endured soul-breaking tribulations. Why? Because God had faith in Job’s capacity to endure. Your current struggle is not necessarily a sign of God’s absence; it may very well be a sign of His confidence in the character He is building within you. In my own life, God has used my “rebellious nature” and broken it down piece by piece so I could finally move in step with His Spirit. He is doing the same for you.
To counter the gates of hell, we must be strategic. We cannot fight spiritual battles with carnal weapons. First, we must stand in faith based on our track record with God. I look back at how He saved me from poison and witchcraft in the past, and I realize that the God who delivered me then is the same God who will deliver me now. Second, we must guard our senses—the eyes and ears are the gates to the mind. This is why I stopped watching television years ago; I had to clear the “non-edifying content” out so I could hear the Holy Spirit clearly.
We also have to realize when God is calling us into a season of “holy isolation.” Some of you feel lonely or rejected right now, but what if that isolation is actually God’s “me time” with you? He may be pulling you away from people who drain your energy or patients who take without pouring back, just so He can fill your cup directly.
Get Spiritual Training, Access Courses from RTCLM Academy
However, standing firm requires more than just an occasional prayer. It requires training. This is why I was led to formalize my decades of experience and my Master’s in Education into the RTCLM Academy for Christian Education (RACE).
We offer courses like Spiritual Warfare 101, 201, and 301 because you cannot win a war if you don’t know the rules of engagement. Many believers are inspired by a Sunday sermon, but they remain unequipped for the Monday morning battle.
By enrolling in our structured learning tracks, such as the Personal Development Pillar, you move from just hearing the word to becoming a soldier who can “bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”.
Our courses provide the biblical framework and the “spiritual toolkit” you need to transition from spiritual infancy to becoming a mature leader who can withstand any adversity.
Accept Jesus Christ as Your Saviour
If you are listening to this today and you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I urge you not to wait. I have seen the evil side, and I have sensed the good; both are real, but only one leads to life. Only you and Jesus can make it through to your salvation. The devil is a defeated foe, but you must choose which side of the war you are on.
Declaration of Victory
I decree and declare that the gates of hell shall not prevail against my mind, my body, or my household. I declare that every weapon of accusation, shame, and condemnation formed against me is nullified by the blood of Jesus Christ.
I decree that my mind is a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit and I set my thoughts on things above. I declare that I am more than a conqueror and that my current trials are merely launching pads for my greatest victory. I am rooted, I am built up, and I am advancing in the faith.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I lift up every person reading these words who feels bruised and battered by the enemy’s tactics. Lord, You see the secret tears and the heavy burdens. Right now, in the mighty name of Jesus, I speak peace over their minds and strength into their bones.
I rebuke every spirit of depression, anxiety, and fear. Father, send Your heavenly angels to guard their comings and goings. Grant them the wisdom to seek You first and the discipline to equip themselves through Your Word.
Let their lives be a testimony that when the winds roared, Your mercy roared louder. We seal this victory in the matchless name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Invitation to Salvation
If you are ready to stop fighting in your own strength and want to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, pray this with me:
“Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died and rose again for me. I confess my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. Make me new. I turn my life over to You—heart, soul, and strength. Fill me with Your Spirit and lead me from this day forward. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Be Encouraged
So today, I encourage you—wherever you are, whatever you are facing—be encouraged. God sees you. He knows your situation intimately. He understands the pressures you carry, the bills you need to pay, the emotional burdens you bear, and the silent prayers you have not even spoken aloud.
You may be wondering how things will work out. You may feel like you are at the end of your rope. But this is not the end. As long as you have God, you have a source that never runs dry.
In Jesus’ mighty name,
Amen.
