Revealing The Truth about The Book of Lamentations by Denise N. Fyffe

The Book of Lamentations

1 How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!

2 She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies.

3 Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits. – Lamentations 1:1-3 KJV

…And so is the experience of Israel and Judah throughout the book of Lamentations.

If you want to have a full understanding of how harshly God dealt with, even His own, Israel … read the book of Lamentations.

As I read the scriptures, more and more I was reassured that this was the story of the black race. I can almost envision it myself.

The anger of God is like a never-ending volcano. It destroys everything in its path.

Lamentations appears with the series of books known as the minor prophets. Israel experiences so much persecution it’s a wonder that they are not extinct.

As the writer laments in verse five,

Five chapters seems like 5 to 50 generations of devastating ingredients persecution and comeuppance.

Jehovah was vexed.

Mercy was absent.

Goodness was absent.

Peace was a distant memory.

Where are we now in the grand scheme of this devastating judgement … unfolding?

Unfortunately, we are repeating the same ago old mistakes and living through some of the greatest devastation every known to man, globally.

In every corner of the earth, there are legions of pestilence slithering through the land.

It is all a sign of the times, but just a part of the age old equation of sin.
