Make It A Habit To Be Thankful
By: Denise N. Fyffe
Get up every morning and thank God for something. Whether for food, clothing or shelter. For those fancy clothes, designer shoes, expensive jewelry, top chef meals and even the air you breathe.
Make it a habit.
All those things shall pass away and where will you be without him.
Sometimes, we fall into a pattern of being ungrateful and that should never be.
God stresses the need to be thankful. Read your bible. You will see many instances where the people of God demonstrated being thankful.
Even the ‘Our Father’ prayer starts off with thanks.
8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. 9 In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. – Matthew 6: 8 – 15 (NKJV)
In Psalms 100, it says “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving“. That means, when you approach God, you start with Thanksgiving – being grateful and expressing it openly.
A Psalm of Thanksgiving.
100 Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
2 Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
3 Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
5 For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations. – Pslams 100
Before you start your next prayer, and your next and the next one after that – the first thing that should come out of your mouth is a litany of thanksgiving unto God.
Be encouraged.
