Its time to exhale, but the air is toxic.
Every time, I try to breathe and coexist in the environment, the air around me becomes polluted.
Have you ever felt like that?
It is like walking outside to enjoy all the lush, green vegetation around you, and admire the geese swimming in the pond and the cool, clean air caressing your skin; but, someone who smokes comes out and starts releasing the fumes from toxic cigarettes. This we already know is not good for your health. But though you try to walk away, they keep following you around.
This can be frustrating.
Peace of Mind is Important
I like peace. I like to have peace of mind. I constantly apply God’s word to my life, especially where He says to live peaceably with all men. In my home, I prefer peace. At work, I prefer peace. In a crowd, I prefer peace.
I trust God and He continually gives me peace, even when the storms of life are raging around me. Even when people do, and say all manners of things against me. I hold my peace.
Romans 12:14-21 KJV
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirsts, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
It is not my style to go provoking people, even when I am provoked. I tend to keep silent and allow the Lord to work it out for me. Yes, at times, that means accusations and such will go un-addressed. But those who serve God knows that all things work together for good for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:28-31 KJV
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
As Christians we are called to behave differently, to conduct ourselves in a manner that is reflective of Jesus Christ. Yes, It is not going to be easy. When anger, hurt, pain, embarrassment and all else comes, our only choice is to release it to Jesus Christ. He alone can bear it for you.
Till then, we exhale trusting that God changes the toxicity of the air will change once we are ready to inhale again.
Even then, He is able to cause all these things to have no ill effect on you or me.
Be Encouraged
So, my encouragement to you, if you are passing through toxic situations and environments is to trust God.
Have faith.
Wait.
Watch.
Stand.
Allow God to fight your battles. Be encouraged that troubles do not last and all things will eventually pass away. Your response to the situation will reflect your character. It reflects your faith. It reflects your faith in God.
