4 Important Words in Life
By: Jeremiah, Servant of the Living God
There are four very important words in life: love, honesty, truth, and respect. Without these in your life, you have nothing.
Love
1 Corinthians 13:1-8 states that “If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hope, and always perseveres. 8 Love never fails…”
Remember…
Love encompasses all things. Love is there to support you. Love is there to sustain you. When you are down, hurt, or lost, love will provide help and all you need in those moments.
1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Honesty
Honesty is good. You have to be honest with the people around you. To maintain good relationships. Because of dishonesty, Judas lost his life and relationship with Jesus Christ. It is important because you need to encourage the belief of others in yourself and your character.
Truth
Speak the truth always. It is a word that cannot be refuted. It is in tandem with honesty. No matter how difficult a situation you find yourself in, you must speak the truth always. A lie changes from moment to moment but time sift all things, whether tomorrow or a hundred years from now the truth never changes.
Respect
And respect opens the gates of the hard-hearted. You gather favor to you when others respect you. If you are humble, people will openly or secretly come to respect you. Even in disagreement, if you can gather the respect of your opposer, the issue will be settled in its own way.
Jesus Christ was an example of all these things, even from those who took his life. Matthew 27: 11-19, said Jesus was before the governor and was accused. However, he found favor with them, even when accused by others they found no fault in him. The wife of Pilate also stated he was a just man.
Love, honesty, truth, and respect are secure pillars on which to build your life and character.
Meditate on God’s Word
Many Christians struggle daily to live according to God’s word. But we need daily nourishment. That is why it is important to read your bible daily; even if it is a few verses and meditate on them.
