You Can Wrestle Your Life Back from Social Media

By Denise N. Fyffe

Romans 12:2 KJV

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We live in a time when social media is the primary means of communication, no longer snail mail. We stay connected using WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Tiktok, Telegram, Twitter, Tumblr, and even YouTube. These all connect us just as easily to over three (3) billion other people in the world as well.

Sure, people still send letters by post, but now we are more likely to get bills and unsolicited advertisements than a letter from a loved one.

Negative Social Media Impact

Though social media has its benefits, like keeping us connected with friends and family. It also has serious setbacks and negative impacts on our psychological and spiritual well-being.

People say what they truly feel and even hide behind a fake account, persona, or avatar. It can be brutal to offer up your true beliefs or opinions when it is an unpopular one.

The Bible talks about being careful, especially when living in such times as these. We must navigate the world’s perception of what is acceptable behavior and what the bible dictates to us as Christians.

Do not get drawn into the lure of anonymity that social media and the internet sometimes give to take down others. To forget our Christian principles and to be unkind.

Do not type the first characters that come to your mind; rather, take your time to think about the impression you leave behind. After all, what you post on the internet is almost forever. You never know where life will take you.

Wrestle Back Your Life from Social Media

To those who have been negatively impacted in mind and spirit by the brutal and often unkind words of internet trolls and commenters, rise out of despair. Do not let the life-sucking venom of strangers dictate your life.

Put one foot in front of the other and move forward.

“Most of all, let the Word of God fill you and renew your mind every day. When our minds are on Christ, Satan has little room to maneuver.” — Billy Graham

Read the Word of God and allow those life-giving words to transform your mind and lift your esteem.

You dictate where you go and how you live your life. Make a conscious choice.

Be Encouraged and wrestle back your life from social media.

Meditate on God’s Word

Many Christians struggle daily to live according to God’s word. But we need daily nourishment. That is why it is important to read your bible daily; even if it is a few verses and meditate on them.

Today, read Romans 8, especially verse 28, and get a copy of the daily devotional Be Encouraged.

Other Bible Verses

Philippians 4:8 KJV

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

2 Corinthians 4:16 KJV

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

Ephesians 4:23 KJV

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Philippians 4:6-7 KJV

Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
