Why Complain When God Has a Plan?
By: Jeremiah, Servant of the Living God

Why do we complain? Many people are enduring far greater challenges. There’s no valid reason for us to grumble. Instead, let’s surrender our concerns to God and place our trust in Him.
When we have even a glimpse of God’s divine plan for us, it becomes evident that waiting for His guidance is far wiser than proceeding without His counsel. It’s crucial to seek God’s will before making decisions, for waiting on the Lord is a virtue.
Read Psalm 27:14, NKJV.
“Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!”
Reflecting on my past, there was a time when I rushed into a relationship without seeking God’s guidance. Over two decades were spent moving from one issue to another, facing battles, sorrows, and troubles. I found myself in relationships that seemed to emerge from darkness or even the realm of the adversary.
Read Proverbs 14:16, NKJV
“A wise man fears and departs from evil, but a fool rages and is self-confident.”
It wasn’t until I turned back to God that I found my true partner, and I can’t deny that had God told me to wait or sent someone to encourage me to be patient, I might not have heeded His counsel. The truth is, sometimes we deceive ourselves, thinking we know what’s best.
However, Psalms 118:8-9 (NKJV) reminds us that it’s better to trust in the Lord than to rely on our own understanding.
What took over twenty years to learn in the wrong relationships, I discovered in just two to three years when I followed God’s guidance. Hallelujah! I had my wedding and more. My brothers and sisters in Christ, let’s cultivate the virtue of waiting on God, as 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NKJV) emphasizes.
Rather than complaining about the difficulties I encountered in those wrong relationships over the years, I’ve chosen to thank God for keeping me alive. I’ve cried out to Him for His mercy, and His Word in Romans 9:33 and Romans 10:11 (NKJV) serves as a source of strength.
Many individuals find themselves in similar situations. Instead of complaining, we should express gratitude and worship Him, recognizing that we’ve made mistakes, and yet He has preserved our lives.
Read Acts of the Apostles 3:19
“Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”
For those who’ve entered into marriages that ended in separation, or for singles wondering when they’ll find a spouse, even for couples yearning for children, remember that life can be imbalanced.
Read Psalms 105:4-5, NKJV
“Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore! Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth.”
Blaming God and questioning why hardships befall us won’t lead to answers. Instead, we should reflect on whether we sought God’s guidance before making decisions, for He will never fail or disappoint us.
Read Isaiah 49:23, NKJV
“Kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers; they shall bow down to you with their faces to the earth and lick up the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am the Lord, for they shall not be ashamed who wait for Me.”
I recall a conversation with a fellow sister in Christ who shared her story of her husband leaving her and their two children after just 6 to 7 years of marriage. I couldn’t help but ask if she had sought God’s guidance before entering into the marriage, as I had learned from my own mistakes. She admitted she hadn’t.
Remember Isaiah 59:1-2 (NKJV) reminds us that when we seek God for guidance, He won’t forget us.
Some may argue they met their spouse at a church program, and the pastor gave them the green light for their wedding. But remember, marriage is a result of God’s mercy and favor (Proverbs 18:22, NKJV). Whatever challenges we encounter in our relationships, let’s give thanks to God for His mercy, for it is He who sustains us and keeps us alive.
