Testimony Thursday: Preparing for God’s Purpose through Testing
By: Colline Goulbourne, Evangelizing Servant of God

Before God uses us for His divine purpose, He often tests our maturity, obedience, and faithfulness. These tests come in the form of trials, circumstances, struggles, and situations. Through these challenges, God evaluates our readiness to handle the higher levels of purpose He has planned for us.
Analogous to Academic Progress
Just like in school, where we must pass tests to move to the next grade, God tests us to ensure we are equipped for the next stage of His plan. Our obedience, humility, patience, and knowledge of His Word are essential in this process.
God’s Business Requires Preparation
God wants to see how obedient, humble, and reliant we are on Him. He won’t elevate us to higher levels if we are not mature enough to handle His business for His glory. Therefore, it is crucial for us to be well-equipped in His Word, feeding on it regularly with righteousness and faith.
Developing Our Trust and Belief
In these tests, God also observes how much we depend on, trust, and believe in Him. Our unwavering faith in God’s plan and His promises strengthens our readiness for His purpose.
The Call to Be Equipped
To reach the next level of elevation in God’s purpose, we must equip ourselves by immersing in His Word regularly and living with obedience, humility, and patience. As we pass these tests of faith and obedience, God will use us according to His perfect plan for His glory.
Bible Verses:
- James 1:3-4 (NIV) – “Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
- 1 Peter 1:6-7 (NIV) – “In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”
- Psalm 66:10 (NIV) – “For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver.”
- Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous.
May these verses inspire you to embrace preparation through testing, trusting in God’s refining process for His divine purpose. Be encouraged to equip yourself with His Word, patience, obedience, and humility as you journey toward the next level of God’s plan for your life.
Conclusion: Embrace Preparation Through Testing
Let us be encouraged to prepare ourselves for God’s purpose through testing. As we embrace obedience, humility, and faithfulness, we equip ourselves for the higher levels of God’s plan. Trust in His guidance, rely on His Word, and let Him mold you for His glory.
Be encouraged, and let us all strive to be well-prepared, for God has incredible plans in store for us.
Be blessed!
