The Christian Life: Following God’s Instructions

I find myself meditating on God and His immense love for me. He loves me so much, and whatever situation I find myself in, I shouldn’t feel disheartened because it’s God’s way of showing me His love.

Let me share something that happened to me yesterday.

I was at home, preparing to pick up my daughter from school. While at home, someone called my mother. When I informed him that she was present, he expressed that he actually wanted to see me. So, I went outside to talk with him.

This person is one of those I signed up for the “WeCare” program during Covid, as part of the mission God put me on to walk in the community, take down names, and sign people up.

The instruction was clear: not to take any money from them, even if offered. And that’s what I did, obeying God’s instructions.

This person was even offering money at that time, but I didn’t take it, knowing who my true Provider is. I didn’t embark on that mission for any personal gain or expecting anything in return. However, following and obeying God’s instructions can lead to unexpected blessings and favors.

He came to see me, even though he initially called for my mother, and I had the chance to accompany him to Western Union. As we walked, I shared with him how good God is, especially considering his recovery from a stroke. God is leading him towards complete recovery.

At Western Union, he received his money, and as he asked me to count it for him, he inquired if I saw a $500 bill. Although God told me at that moment that he wanted to give me money for helping him, I didn’t go with the intention to receive, and God didn’t give me the go-ahead to accept. So, I politely declined. I took a taxi to pick up my daughter, still feeling low, not knowing how I would send her to school the next day.

While in the taxi, I reflected on how God tests us in situations, even in this one where I didn’t have much. However, I was instructed not to receive but to keep the faith that He is still my Provider. God loves to surprise us, and receiving a surprise makes me overjoyed at His love and care for us.

When I got back home, planning to borrow money from a friend, I was pleasantly surprised. God is indeed easy. He loves when we follow His instructions, directions, and leadership for His glory. He loves when all His plans align with His will, and we are obedient to His instructions in the places where His glory should manifest.

Meditate on God’s Word

Many Christians struggle daily to live according to God’s word. But we need daily nourishment. That is why it is important to read your bible daily; even if it is a few verses and meditate on them.
