The Christian Life: The Race is Not for the Swift
By: Colline Goulbourne, Evangelizing Servant of God

“The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but to the one who endures it to the end.” This scripture has been resonating in my spirit since yesterday, and I feel compelled to share it as a message of encouragement. As I convey God’s message to uplift someone in their current struggles, my own soul is rejuvenated by these words.
God says you might be going through a challenging time, but it’s not permanent; it’s a process of building and molding. In moments of wondering why you are facing this situation, remember your prayers to God. You asked Him to use you, not to forget you, to clarify your purpose, and to reveal your gifts on Earth.
Be assured that He is answering those prayers.
God is building character within you as you navigate the process of life’s challenges. The key is not in how many times you fall but in the courage to rise again.
Brush off the pieces and keep moving, even when the destination is unclear. Rise by faith, trusting that God is orchestrating everything on your behalf.
People may observe your race, uttering negative words about your struggles, shortcomings, or past mistakes. Ignore the distractions and focus on moving forward. Your life doesn’t end with criticism.
As long as you have life, you have hope, and your hope is in God alone — the sustainer in life’s trials.
Don’t let negative words keep you down; let them fuel your determination to press on, push forth, and move with persistence and perseverance by faith in God. Looking back, especially during trials, is a distraction that hinders your progress. Your victory is not in how you start the race but in how you finish it, determined by courage, persistence, perseverance, consistency, and faith in God.
To those watching your race, remind them of the rules: don’t focus on the start but on the finish. Your beginning doesn’t define your ending. Show them that success is not determined by the start but by finishing strong, guided by determination, persistence, perseverance, consistency, and courage, with the help of Almighty God.

-
Hebrews 12:1-3 – “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.”

-
2 Timothy 4:7-8 – “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”
-
James 1:12 – “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”
Remember, if your life’s race began poorly — with marriage problems, parenting challenges, work struggles, trials, mistakes, or bad decisions — know that it’s not over.
Get up, make changes, and press on.
Life’s race involves changes for success and victory. Never give up; press on by making righteous changes with Christ at the forefront of your life. It’s never too late to make positive changes when there’s still life; where there is life, there is hope in God. If you are walking through pressure and testing, continue with this encouragement on moving from trials to triumph by focusing on God’s plan.
Be blessed!
