Sunday Sermon: The Path to Increasing Faith
by Minister Denise N. Fyffe
Brothers and sisters, today I want to share with you a personal experience—one that has transformed the way I approach my relationship with God and my faith in Him. Not long ago, I asked God a question that perhaps many of us have asked at some point: “Lord, how can I increase my faith in You?” His answer came in a way I never expected, and it unlocked a powerful truth that has begun to reshape my spiritual journey.
A.W. Tozer’s Revelation
It all began when I decided to read Chapter 17 of A.W. Tozer’s Knowledge of the Holy. I was seeking to understand the faithfulness of God, but what I found was far more profound than I anticipated. Tozer explained the concepts of faith in and faithful to with an inspired insight. As humans, we often see these concepts as separate: “faith in” refers to believing in something or someone, while “faithful to” means being dedicated to it. However, Tozer showed that in God, these two are inseparable.
As I reflected on this, God began to impress upon me a life-altering truth: In order for my faith in Him to grow, my dedication to Him must increase. Faith and dedication are intertwined. The more dedicated I am to God, the deeper my faith will be. Thank You, Jesus, for that revelation, because in that moment, I felt as though I had tapped into a divine secret—a secret that, while known to some, is often not fully grasped.
The Revelation of Dedication
This realization sparked a desire within me to live at a greater level of dedication to God. More and more, the change I felt coming years ago has started to manifest. Every day, my prayer times, devotions, and experiences seem to be syncing in ways that can only be explained by divine intervention. For example, I would think about how I could enhance my prayer life, and then my devotional or Bible study would address that very topic. If I was struggling with a flaw in my character, that same day or week I would encounter a teaching or revelation on how to overcome it.
God was showing me, step by step, that increased faith doesn’t come from mere intellectual belief, but from a heart that is fully dedicated to Him. Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith is a substance, something tangible in our spiritual walk. It is deepened and matured through consistent dedication to God, through spending more time in His presence and aligning our hearts with His will.
The Purpose of Prayer and Worship
This journey has also opened my eyes to the true purpose of prayer and worship. Yes, they are ways of communicating with God, but they are more than that—they are doorways into His presence. Prayer and worship are not just about asking God for things or singing praises to Him, but about entering into His presence and dwelling there.
However, once we enter His presence, we must make a concerted effort to remain there for as long as we can. It is in these moments of prolonged presence that God reveals Himself to us in deeper ways. Psalm 16:11 (KJV) says, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” True joy, peace, and the growth of our faith are found when we linger in God’s presence.
Dedication Brings Revelation
The more time we spend with God, the more He reveals Himself to us. This is not just for us as individuals but is essential for all who serve in ministry—His pastors, prophets, evangelists, teachers, and apostles. More time, more dedication, more faith. As we dedicate more of our lives to Him, He entrusts us with greater responsibilities, and in turn, we gain the capacity to handle them with confidence and faith.
Luke 12:48 (KJV) reminds us, “…For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.” God will not give us more than we can handle, but as we prove ourselves faithful and dedicated, He will give us more, trusting in our ability to carry out His will. More time with Him means our faith will increase, and with that faith, we will be able to accomplish greater things for His kingdom.
The Relationship Between Dedication and Faith
The Lord has shown me that faith is not just about believing but about living out that belief through dedication. James 2:17 (KJV) tells us, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” Faith must be accompanied by action—by devotion, by consistency, by spending time with God, and by seeking His will in everything we do.
Increased faith doesn’t just happen. It grows as we make conscious decisions to prioritize God in our lives. It happens when we dedicate more of our time to prayer, worship, and studying His Word. Romans 10:17 (KJV) says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” The more we immerse ourselves in His Word, the more our faith grows.
Conclusion
Brothers and sisters, the key to increasing your faith lies in your dedication to God. As you draw closer to Him, as you spend more time in His presence, your faith will deepen, your understanding will grow, and you will experience more of His divine revelation. This is not just an intellectual exercise—it is a spiritual journey that transforms your heart and mind.
Today, I urge you to make a conscious decision to increase your dedication to God. Spend more time in prayer, more time in worship, and more time in His Word. As you do, you will see your faith in Him grow, and He will begin to reveal Himself to you in ways you never imagined.

Help us to grow in faith as we draw nearer to You. Reveal more of Yourself to us as we seek Your presence, and may our lives reflect our increasing faith in You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
