Sunday Sermon: How Much Does God Know You?

by Minister Denise N. Fyffe

Dear Friends, today we delve deeper into an incredible truth that should comfort and amaze us. We have already explored how much God loves us, but now we turn to the question: How much does God know you? The answer is profound—God knows every detail of our lives, from the number of hairs on our head to the deepest desires and fears locked away in our hearts.

Matthew 10:30 (NLT) tells us, “And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.” Think about that for a moment. God knows you with such precision and care that He has numbered each strand of hair on your head. That means He knows every detail about your body, your mind, and your spirit.

God Knows Every Detail About You

  • God knows every bodily detail about every human being on earth.
    • In Psalm 139:13-14 (KJV), it says, “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” From the moment we were formed in our mother’s womb, God knew every intricate detail of who we are.
  • God knows the pain we lock away in our hearts, which even our own consciousness is not aware of.
    • Sometimes, we suppress hurt, fear, and unresolved emotions. We may not even be aware of the depth of our own pain, but God sees it clearly. Psalm 34:18 (KJV) assures us, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” He understands the pain we hide and offers healing.
  • God knows every last sin we committed.
    • Nothing is hidden from the eyes of God. Hebrews 4:13 (KJV) reminds us, “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” Even the sins we commit in secret, God knows, but in His mercy, He offers forgiveness through Christ.
  • God knows every good intent that we are capable of.
    • He knows not only the wrong we’ve done but the good we are capable of. God sees the potential in each of us to love, to serve, and to reflect His glory. Ephesians 2:10 (KJV) says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
  • God knows if there is someone in the world who is our perfect mate.
    • For those seeking companionship, know that God sees your heart and knows the perfect plan for your life. Psalm 37:4 (KJV) encourages us, “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
  • God knows why we were born and our purpose in this world.
    • Each of us was created for a divine purpose. Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV) reminds us, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Your life is not an accident. God has a specific plan for you.
  • God knows if we truly love Him or if we are faking it.
    • God sees beyond our outward expressions of faith; He knows the sincerity of our hearts. 1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV) says, “…for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” We cannot deceive Him.

The Depth of God’s Knowledge and Love

There is no one who loves and knows us like our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He knows us entirely, and yet He loves us perfectly.

Romans 8:37-39 (KJV) says, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” No matter what we face, no matter what we’ve done, His love remains constant, and His knowledge of us is complete.

Ephesians 2:4-5 (KJV) adds, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;).” Even when we were lost in sin, He knew us, He loved us, and He saved us.

The God Who Knows and Cares

  • Romans 5:8 (KJV): “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” This is how much He knows and loves us—that He died for us, even in our brokenness.
  • Zephaniah 3:17 (KJV): “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” God delights in us. He rejoices over us, knowing every part of us.
  • 1 Peter 5:6-7 (KJV): “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” This God who knows everything about you also cares for you deeply. He invites you to cast your burdens on Him because He is able and willing to carry them.
  • Psalm 86:15 (KJV): “But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.” God knows our weaknesses, yet He is slow to anger, full of compassion, and rich in mercy.

Conclusion

As we reflect on this, let it sink in—God knows you. He knows your flaws, your fears, your joys, your potential, and your purpose. And despite knowing everything, He loves you beyond measure. There is nothing hidden from Him, and there is no distance His love cannot reach.

Today, I urge you to rest in the knowledge that God sees you and knows you completely. Let His love transform the way you view yourself and others. Trust Him with your life, your decisions, and your future because the God who knows you so intimately has a plan for your life.

Closing Prayer

Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for knowing us so completely and loving us despite our flaws. Help us to trust in Your perfect knowledge of our lives. Lead us into the purpose You have for us, and may we walk in the assurance that You are always with us. Teach us to rest in Your care and to cast our burdens upon You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Blessing

May the God who knows you intimately and loves you endlessly guide you, protect you, and fill your life with His peace. May you walk confidently in the knowledge that you are fully known and fully loved by the Creator of the universe. Amen.
