Dreams and Visions: How to Interpret Dreams About Your Ex
By: Minister Denise N. FyffeWelcome Dreamer, dreaming of an ex can feel like your heart’s old chapter is demanding a sequel—but often God is gently spotlighting what still needs healing. Scripture reminds us: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past” (Isaiah 43:18), and Paul urges us to press “forward to what lies ahead” (Philippians 3:13). When memories of a past relationship surface in sleep, they may be calling you to surrender lingering regrets, unmet expectations, or unspoken hurts to the One who makes all things new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Rather than viewing the dream as a pull back into old pain, see it as a divine nudge to bring those memories before God’s light and love.
Here’s how to walk toward freedom:
- First, offer your emotions to Jesus in prayer—name the loss, the longing, the guilt—then claim His promise to heal “the brokenhearted” (Psalm 147:3).
- Next, practice forgiveness: release yourself and the other person from past wounds, echoing Ephesians 4:31–32’s call to kindness and compassion.
- Finally, renew your mind by filling your days with truth, community, and purpose—remind yourself that your identity is “in Christ,” not tied to any former romance (Romans 12:2).
