Revealing The Christian Life banner 1

I encourage you to get a copy of my latest book, Spiritual Warfare: Born into Battle. I have received many prayer requests from people all over the world facing challenging situations that have caused so much distress. These can be countered with spiritual warfare tactics.

As Christians it is important to learn about the spiritual realm and our role in it. We need to understand our authority, given to us by Jesus Christ. We need to learn how to act boldly. Pray steadfastly and increase our faith. I encourage you to get a copy of the book and learn the foundational lessons.

I share these from my own experiences, as I too wish I had such a guide when I got saved as a young child.

Spiritual Warfare: Born into Battle by Minister Denise N. Fyffe

About the Book

This book is a comprehensive guide on spiritual warfare, and it provides over ten chapters with practical teachings, testimonies, and exercises for believers to understand and engage in the spiritual battle inherent in the Christian life. It emphasizes the reality of spiritual conflict, the importance of spiritual armor, weapons, and disciplines, and the role of obedience, prayer, and community in securing victory.

Born into Battle

I start the book with a personal testimony of spiritual awakening and the realization that every believer is enlisted in a spiritual battle from the moment of salvation. I describe the internal tug-of-war between fear and peace, the heightened awareness of spiritual realms, and the ongoing challenges faced in the Christian Walk. The book stresses that spiritual warfare is not optional but a daily reality requiring vigilance, spiritual armor, and active service in God’s kingdom. The believer is called to stand firm, resist the devil, and enforce Christ’s victory locally in all aspects of life—mind, heart, mouth, and environment.

The Battlefield: Mind, Heart, Mouth, and Life

The guide identifies the inner life and daily routines as the primary terrain of spiritual warfare. The mind is the frontline where thoughts are sieged by lies and fear; renewal through Scripture is vital to pull down strongholds.

Knowing Your Enemy: Satan’s Kingdom and Strategies

There is also a detailed study of the enemy’s nature and tactics to equip believers with discernment. The enemy operates through deception, accusation, temptation, intimidation, distraction, division, delay, counterfeit power, and weariness. Each tactic is met with specific counters.

The Spiritual Armor

The book also elaborates on each piece of the armor described in Ephesians 6: the Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes of the Gospel of Peace, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, Sword of the Spirit (Word of God), and Prayer. Each piece protects different vulnerabilities and requires active engagement through Scripture, prayer, and faith.

Weapons of Warfare

Beyond armor, the book presents spiritual weapons given by God, including prayer, praise and worship, fasting, the Word and declarations etc. These weapons are described as mighty and effective when used rightly and consistently.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Supernatural Aids in Battle

I also touch on the nine gifts of the Spirit (Word of Wisdom, Word of Knowledge, Faith, Healings, Miracles, Prophecy, Discerning of Spirits, Tongues, and Interpretation of Tongues). They are explained with their roles in spiritual warfare.

The Five-Fold Ministry: Leadership in God’s Army

You can also get greater clarity on the roles of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, as they are essential for equipping believers and maintaining unity and health in the church army. Each office has specific functions, pitfalls, and guardrails to ensure effective ministry and spiritual warfare.

Other areas included in the book:

  • Training & Discipleship
  • The Element of Surprise
  • Uniformity to Christ
  • Following the Holy Spirit’s Orders
  • The Power of Prayer

This guide serves as a detailed manual for believers to understand the spiritual realities they face, equip themselves with biblical truth and spiritual disciplines, and live empowered lives of victory and service in Christ’s kingdom.

Chapter Excerpt: Born into Battle

You were not born into a playground—you were born into a battleground. From the moment you drew breath, a real but unseen conflict began to swirl around your body, your mind, your heart, your destiny, and your family. There is no neutral ground in this war; apathy is a position, and silence is a vote. Jesus put it plainly: “He who is not with Me is against Me” (Matthew 12:30, NKJV).

Spiritual warfare is not a fringe topic for the ultra-zealous; it is the daily reality of every believer. Scripture refuses to romanticize the world we live in. Ephesians 6:12, NKJV states:

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Our enemies are not people; they are the dark powers that manipulate systems, stir strife, whisper lies, and bait our weaknesses. That is why spiritual discernment matters. The devil’s first strategy is deception—he wants you to believe there is no war, or if there is, that you are powerless in it. But the gospel announces something different. In Colossians 1:13, NKJV, it says:

“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.”

So, what happened at salvation, is that you were transferred—out of darkness, into Christ’s kingdom. That transfer is legal, but warfare enforces what is legal in the unseen realm. Think of it this way: Christ’s victory is complete, final, and cosmic; your assignment is to enforce that victory locally—in your thoughts, your habits, your home, your calling, your city – in your entire life.

Two battlegrounds demand your first attention:

First in the Mind. Every siege against your life begins as a suggestion in your thoughts. The enemy seeds fear, accusation, compromise, and counterfeit identities. We answer not with willpower alone but with truth. “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4, NKJV). Strongholds are fortified lies; truth is the battering ram. You renew your mind by Scripture until God’s voice becomes louder than every other voice.

Secondly, it’s in the Heart and Mouth. What saturates your heart will spill from your mouth and steer your steps (cf. Proverbs 4:23; Luke 6:45). Hell wants your confession – your agreement – because agreement grants access. Though, heaven wants your confession too – because agreement creates authority. That means, your heart holds the Word, your mouth wields the Word, and your life walks the Word.

So expect resistance. Lions roar to paralyze prey before they pounce. 1 Peter 5:8, NKJV talks about how to “be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

But you must also hear your Commander’s counter-order. James 4:7, NKJV says “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Then Luke 10:19, NKJV also states, “Behold, I give you the authority… over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Submission is not passivity; it is alignment. When I submit to the Holy Spirit, I stand under the banner of Christ’s finished work. From that posture, resistance is effective, declarations carry weight, and prayer becomes enforcement rather than negotiation. Our confidence is not in our volume but in our position in Christ.

Finally, you must learn the rhythm of soldiers who endure. Worship before warfare. Word before weapons. Holiness before heat. We don’t shout to be heard by demons; we stand to be backed by God. This book will train your hands for war and your fingers for battle (cf. Psalm 144:1). By the time we are done, you will recognize the enemy’s schemes faster, reach for the right weapon sooner, and remain standing longer—“more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37, NKJV).

Consecration Prayer

Pray this aloud:

“Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I acknowledge the reality of the spiritual war around me. I submit myself to You—spirit, soul, and body. Wash me with the blood of Jesus. Fill me afresh with the Holy Spirit. Train my mind to love truth, my heart to treasure Your Word, and my mouth to agree with heaven. I renounce every lie, every fearful agreement, and every unholy alliance. I choose Your side, Your Word, and Your way. Establish me under Your authority so I can operate in Your authority, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

The Invitation

I invite you today to take a deep look and think about your life. Is God calling you to be baptized and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Have you been ignoring him? Have you been facing immense hardships and challenges? What can you do to take the first step? How can you trust that he will help you to take the next step?

Be encouraged.

Be bold. Answer the Call.

In Jesus mighty name, Amen.

And remember, be encouraged.
