Spiritual Warfare Drills #6: Counter the Attacks
By: Minister Denise N. Fyffe
You cannot win a war against an enemy you refuse to study. Scripture does not invite obsession with darkness, but it commands sobriety and awareness: “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11, NKJV). The devil is real, defeated, and still dangerous to the careless.
Jesus defined his mission plainly: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10, NKJV). Christ has already disarmed him (Colossians 2:15), but warfare is how we enforce that victory in our sphere.
The Satan’s Strategies
Here are some of Satan’s core strategies (and your counters) an dthe counter attack. Practice them for the next week:
Deception (Lies & Half-truths). From Eden onward (Genesis 3), hell’s first tactic is to twist God’s Word: “Has God indeed said…?” Jesus called Satan “a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44, NKJV).
- The Counter is Truth. Renew your mind daily; answer lies with Scripture the way Jesus did in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1–11).
Accusation (Shame & Condemnation). He is “the accuser of our brethren” (Revelation 12:10, NKJV), replaying your past to paralyze your present.
- The Counter is the blood & righteousness. Agree with the Word: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1, NKJV). Confess, repent quickly, stand righteous in Christ.
Temptation (Lust, Greed, Pride). The same old playbook—“the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life” (1 John 2:16, NKJV).
- The Counter is Word-anchored boundaries + Spirit-led self-control. Pre-decide your “No.” Fast, flee, and fortify (2 Timothy 2:22; Galatians 5:16).
Intimidation (Fear & Threats). He roars to freeze you (1 Peter 5:8).
- The Counter is faith & perfect love. Lift the shield of faith (Ephesians 6:16) and confess, “God has not given us a spirit of fear…” (2 Timothy 1:7, NKJV).
