Declarations for November: Prayers for Our Children
by: Minister Denise N. Fyffe
As we move into November, a month often marked by thanksgiving and reflection, it is a perfect time to focus on one of the most precious gifts God has given us: our children. Praying for our children is a powerful way to invoke God’s protection, guidance, and blessings over their lives. The Bible provides numerous examples of the importance and impact of such prayers, none more touching than the story of Hannah and her son, Samuel.
The Biblical Example of Hannah: A Mother’s Prayers Answered
Hannah’s story, found in 1 Samuel 1, is a profound example of the power of persistent prayer and dedication to God. Hannah was deeply distressed because she was childless. Despite her anguish, she poured out her heart to God, praying fervently for a son. In her prayer, she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life” (1 Samuel 1:11).
God heard Hannah’s plea, and she gave birth to a son, Samuel, who would go on to become one of Israel’s greatest prophets. True to her vow, Hannah dedicated Samuel to the Lord, bringing him to the temple to serve God under the priest Eli. Her story teaches us about the power of prayer, the importance of faith, and the blessings that come from dedicating our children to God.
Prayers for Our Children
In today’s world, children face a multitude of challenges, from academic pressures to social media influences, peer pressure, and uncertainties about the future. As parents, guardians, and mentors, it is our responsibility to cover them in prayer, asking for God’s protection, wisdom, and favor over their lives.
- Praying for Protection: Just as Hannah prayed for Samuel, we can pray for God’s protection over our children. Psalm 91:11 says, “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” Let us ask God to send His angels to watch over our children, keeping them safe from harm.
- Praying for Wisdom and Guidance: Our children need divine wisdom and guidance to navigate the complexities of life. James 1:5 assures us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Let us pray that our children will be filled with God’s wisdom, making wise decisions that honor Him.
- Praying for Their Future: Like Hannah, we can dedicate our children to the Lord, praying for their future and asking God to fulfill His purpose in their lives. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Let us trust God with our children’s futures, believing that He has good plans for them.
November is a month to focus on the blessing and responsibility of raising our children.
By drawing inspiration from the story of Hannah and the biblical promises for our children, we can pray with confidence and faith. Let us declare God’s protection, wisdom, and favor over their lives, trusting that He will guide them and fulfill His purposes for them. May this month be filled with blessings, love, and divine favor for our children and our families. Amen.

Declarations Over My Life (Book Series)
This series, Declarations for My Life, provides bold statements entrenched in the promises of God. As children of God, Christians, we ought to make pronouncements over our lives. We are taught that as sons and daughters of the kingdom, heirs to the royal priesthood of Jesus Christ, we should make declarations and decrees. It is a way in which to exercise our will/authority and cause our purpose for a thing to be made manifest.
Each book in the series is customized, so feel free to get the copy that best suits your household and your needs. You won’t miss out on any relevant and valid information provided.
