Declarations for December: Embracing a Victorious and Prosperous New Year

As we approach December, the final month of the year, it’s a time of reflection and anticipation. We look back on the past year, acknowledging our victories and lessons learned, and we also look forward to the new year with hope and determination. This is the perfect time to make powerful, victorious, and prosperous declarations for the upcoming year, setting the stage for God’s abundant blessings in our lives. The Bible provides us with numerous references that encourage us to plan, declare, and work towards a fruitful future.
Reflecting on the Past Year
Before we step into the new year, it is important to reflect on the past year. Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds us, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Reflecting on God’s faithfulness helps us to see His hand in our lives, guiding us through both the good and challenging times.
Making Plans and Setting Goals
As we prepare for the new year, setting goals and making plans is essential. Proverbs 16:3 advises us, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” By committing our plans to God, we invite His guidance and wisdom into our decision-making processes. When we align our goals with His will, we can trust that He will establish and bless our efforts.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 also encourages us to write down our vision: “Then the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.’” Writing down our goals helps to clarify our vision and serves as a tangible reminder of our commitment to pursuing God’s plan for our lives.
The Power of Declarations
Declarations are a powerful tool for shaping our reality and aligning our lives with God’s promises. Proverbs 18:21 tells us, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” By speaking positive, faith-filled declarations over our lives, we activate God’s power to bring about change and blessings.
Biblical Examples of Victorious Declarations
- Joshua and Caleb: In Numbers 13:30, Caleb declares, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” Despite the negative reports from other spies, Joshua and Caleb believed in God’s promise and declared their victory, which eventually led them to inherit the Promised Land.
- David: David’s declarations of faith in 1 Samuel 17:45-47 before his battle with Goliath demonstrate his confidence in God’s power: “David said to the Philistine, ‘You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head.’” David’s faith and declaration of victory led to his triumph over Goliath.
- Jesus: In Mark 11:23, Jesus teaches about the power of faith and declarations: “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” Jesus emphasizes the importance of speaking with faith, believing that our declarations can move mountains.
Working Towards Our Goals
Declarations are powerful, but they must be accompanied by action. James 2:17 reminds us, “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” As we declare God’s promises over our lives, we must also take practical steps towards achieving our goals.
- Set Specific Goals: Be clear about what you want to achieve in the new year. Break down your goals into manageable steps and create a plan of action.
- Stay Persistent: Just as David faced numerous challenges before becoming king, we may encounter obstacles. Stay persistent and keep pushing forward, trusting that God is with you.
- Seek God’s Guidance: Regularly spend time in prayer and reading the Bible to seek God’s direction and wisdom. Psalm 32:8 promises, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”
- Surround Yourself with Encouragement: Find a community of believers who can support and encourage you. Hebrews 10:24-25 advises, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
The New Year
As we close out this year and prepare to embrace the new one, let us do so with a heart full of faith and determination. By making powerful, victorious, and prosperous declarations, we set the stage for God’s blessings in our lives. Let us commit our plans to the Lord, take action towards our goals, and trust that He will guide us every step of the way.
May this upcoming year be filled with God’s favor, blessings, and abundant prosperity. Let us step into it with confidence, knowing that God is with us, and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).

Declaration for Your Life
I pray the Lord will touch your life as you submit to Him and rededicate your life. I pray that He will guide you and keep you. I pray that His will be done in your life, now and forever more, Amen.
