BE ENCOURAGED • WAITING ON GOD
God Is Working Even When You Cannot See the Answer Yet
By Minister Denise N. Fyffe
Silence is not proof that God is absent. Faith keeps trusting while the answer is still forming.

There are seasons when we pray, wait and look for evidence that something is changing, yet nothing seems different. The door is still closed. The answer has not arrived. The situation looks exactly as it did yesterday.
Those seasons test us because faith is easier when we can point to visible progress. But Scripture repeatedly shows that God can be at work long before people can see the result.
Silence Does Not Always Mean Inactivity
A seed under the ground looks like nothing is happening. Yet beneath the surface, roots begin to form before anything breaks through the soil.
In the same way, we should be careful not to interpret every quiet season as abandonment. Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart” (NKJV).
Joseph Could Not See the Whole Story
Joseph experienced betrayal, slavery, false accusation and imprisonment before he saw the larger purpose of what God was doing. At many points, his circumstances would have suggested that his earlier dreams had failed.
Yet years later Joseph could look back and tell his brothers, “But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good” (Genesis 50:20, NKJV).
Joseph understood the meaning more clearly afterward than he could while he was living through it.
Waiting Is Not Wasted When God Is Shaping You
Sometimes we become so focused on the answer that we overlook what God is doing in us while we wait. Waiting can expose impatience, fear, pride and unhealthy dependence. It can also build endurance, wisdom, discipline and deeper prayer.
Romans 5 teaches that tribulation produces perseverance, character and hope. That does not make hardship pleasant, but it reminds us that God can produce something in the process.
Do What You Can While You Wait
Trusting God does not require becoming passive. If you are waiting for employment, continue preparing and applying. If you are waiting for healing, follow appropriate medical guidance and care for your body. If you are waiting for direction, keep praying, learning and handling your present responsibilities faithfully.
Faithfulness in the waiting season matters.
Do Not Manufacture an Answer Because You Are Tired of Waiting
One of the dangers of waiting is the temptation to create our own solution simply to escape uncertainty. We can force relationships, accept unhealthy opportunities, make impulsive financial decisions or convince ourselves that any open door must be God’s will.
Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to trust in the Lord and acknowledge Him in all our ways. A delayed answer does not give us permission to abandon wisdom.
Remember What God Has Already Done
When the future is unclear, remembrance becomes important. Think about previous prayers God answered, previous doors He opened, previous dangers He carried you through and previous seasons you once thought would never end.
Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us that God’s mercies are new every morning. Yesterday’s faithfulness becomes evidence we can carry into today’s uncertainty.
What to Tell Yourself While You Wait
- I do not know the whole story yet.
- I will not interpret delay as automatic rejection.
- I can remain faithful with today’s responsibilities.
- I will not force a door because I am anxious.
- I will keep praying, using wisdom and watching for God’s direction.
- God’s character does not change because my circumstances are uncertain.
You may not be able to see the answer yet. That does not mean there is no answer. You may not understand what God is doing. That does not mean He has stopped working.
Keep walking. Keep praying. Keep doing the next right thing. Let God handle what remains outside your control.
Be encouraged and stay blessed.

The Invitation
If you have been waiting for something to change, begin with the most important question: have you surrendered your life to Jesus Christ? If not, do not delay that decision.
In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
