BE ENCOURAGED • ENDURANCE
When Your Strength Is Running Low, How to Endure Without Giving Up
By Minister Denise N. Fyffe
You do not need strength for the whole journey today. Ask God for grace for the next faithful step.

There are seasons when you are not trying to conquer the world; you are simply trying to make it through the day without giving up. Your responsibilities remain, people still need things from you, prayers seem unanswered, and the strength you once relied on feels thin.
Scripture does not pretend that faithful people never become weary. Isaiah 40:29 says, “He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength” (NKJV). The promise begins by acknowledging weakness. God knows when you are tired.
Weariness Is Not the Same as Defeat
Being tired does not mean you have failed. Elijah experienced exhaustion after a tremendous spiritual victory. David repeatedly wrote from places of distress. Paul described being hard-pressed and perplexed, yet not destroyed. God worked through people who knew what it meant to reach the limits of human strength.
The danger comes when weariness begins interpreting everything for you. A tired mind may tell you that nothing is changing, nobody cares, God has forgotten you, or there is no point continuing. Do not make permanent conclusions from a depleted moment.
Endurance Often Looks Ordinary
Endurance is not always dramatic. Sometimes it means praying one honest prayer. Sometimes it means getting up and completing the next necessary task. Sometimes it means resting instead of pretending you are invincible. Sometimes it means asking for help.
Galatians 6:9 encourages us not to grow weary while doing good, because there is a harvest in due season if we do not lose heart. The verse does not promise that the season will always feel easy. It tells us that faithfulness has a future beyond the fatigue of today.
What to Do When Your Strength Is Low
- Reduce the day to the next faithful step instead of carrying tomorrow at the same time.
- Pray honestly rather than performing strength before God.
- Return to Scripture that reminds you who God is, not merely how you feel.
- Accept appropriate rest and practical help.
- Separate genuine responsibility from burdens God never asked you to carry.
- Remember previous seasons in which God sustained you.
God Can Sustain You Before He Changes the Situation
We often want God to remove the pressure immediately. Sometimes He does. At other times, His answer begins with sustaining grace. Second Corinthians 12:9 records, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (NKJV).
Grace for today is not a consolation prize. If God keeps you standing in a season that should have overwhelmed you, that sustaining power matters. You may look back later and realize that the miracle was not only what changed around you, but what God preserved within you.
A Free Resource for the Journey
If endurance is the season you are walking through, RTCLM’s Free Resources library includes Be Enduring by Denise N. Fyffe. Use it as an additional source of Christian encouragement while continuing to anchor yourself in Scripture and prayer.
You do not need enough strength for the entire year today. Ask God for today’s bread, today’s wisdom and today’s strength. Then take the next faithful step.
The Invitation
God’s greatest gift to us is salvation through Jesus Christ. If you have not accepted Him as Lord and Savior, do not ignore His invitation.
In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
