BE ENCOURAGED • TESTIMONY & HEALING

Your Broken Places Can Still Become a Testimony

By Minister Denise N. Fyffe

God can bring witness, wisdom and hope out of places that once felt only painful.

Some experiences leave marks. A betrayal, illness, loss, disappointment, family crisis or season of failure can divide life into what existed before and what came afterward. When you are still inside the painful chapter, it can be difficult to imagine that anything useful could come from it.

Yet Scripture repeatedly shows God working through lives that have known suffering. Romans 8:28 does not call every event good; it teaches that God works in all things for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

A Testimony Does Not Require Pretending

Your testimony does not become stronger because you minimize what happened. Biblical faith makes room for lament, grief and truth. David described anguish openly in the Psalms. Job did not pretend his losses were painless. Even Jesus wept.

Healing and testimony begin with truth. You can acknowledge that something wounded you while also believing that the wound will not have the final authority over your future.

What God Can Build from Broken Places

  • Compassion for people whose pain you now understand.
  • Wisdom about boundaries, choices and relationships.
  • A deeper dependence on God rather than appearances.
  • A testimony that gives another person courage to continue.
  • Clarity about assignments, ministries or service that emerge from lived experience.

Second Corinthians 1:4 describes God as the One who comforts us in tribulation so that we may comfort others with the comfort we ourselves received. Pain does not automatically produce wisdom, but pain surrendered to God can become a place from which wisdom and compassion grow.

Do Not Rush Your Story

You do not owe anyone a public testimony before you are ready. Some chapters require time, prayer, healing and appropriate privacy. Your value is not measured by how quickly you turn suffering into a lesson for somebody else.

Let God work deeply. Let truth settle. Let healing develop. When the proper time comes, what you have survived may become evidence to someone else that survival, restoration and renewed purpose are possible.

Read a Testimony of Perseverance

RTCLM’s Free Resources library includes the free ebook Testimony by Colline Goulbourne. It is offered with the author’s attribution as another resource for readers who value Christian testimony and stories of perseverance.

Your broken place is not your whole identity. Your present chapter is not necessarily your final chapter. Keep allowing God to write beyond what hurt you.
