The Mystery of Angels
by Minister Denise N. Fyffe
RTCLM Editorial Review
Angels are familiar enough to Christians that we can stop thinking carefully about them. They appear in Christmas stories, sermons, songs, testimonies, and conversations about protection. But familiarity can blur the line between what Scripture actually says and what culture has added.
The Mystery of Angels is strongest when it pulls the subject back toward the biblical record. Instead of treating angels as decorative spiritual figures, the book presents them as servants of God with assignments, authority, limits, and purpose.
The most important thing this book gets right is order. Angels matter, but worship, dependence, prayer, and glory belong to God.
Scripture shows angels delivering messages, protecting, warring, worshipping, and carrying out divine judgment. Yet the Bible never tells believers to build their faith around angels. That distinction keeps the subject from becoming sensational and makes the book more useful as a study resource.
The book also gives readers a reason to reopen passages they may have read many times without focusing on the angels in them. Gabriel’s messages, Michael’s warfare, the angels at the resurrection, heavenly worship, and the many unnamed messengers throughout Scripture take on greater significance when viewed together.
For readers curious about guardian angels, angelic encounters, spiritual warfare, heavenly ranks, or divine protection, the value is not that every question receives a dramatic answer. The value is that the reader is repeatedly pushed back toward Scripture instead of speculation.
RTCLM’s Bible Study: The Mystery of Angels, God’s Heavenly Servant can also be used alongside the book for further study.
This is the kind of subject that naturally invites curiosity. The book is most useful when that curiosity leads back to the Bible, not away from it.
