Daily Journal: Applying Declarations for My Workplace to My Own Situation

I sat this morning reading my bible, meditating, and going through my new book, Declarations for My Workplace. Yes, I do use my own books as devotionals as well. You see, I was just meditating and declaring the word – and work – of God. I really need His Holy Spirit to not only abide in me, but to speak to me and guide me in this season. I wanted my faithful prayer to work fervently in my life.
Prayer
“Lord submit my heart, my mind, my spirit, my soul, my body and every action under the will of the Holy Spirit.”
The Nine to Five Situation
Here is a little bit about me, I not only serve through this ministry, but I have a ‘9 to 5’ job as well. Working full time allows me to pay the bills and help support my family, as the ministry is 100% volunteer work, at the moment.
I pray that one day this will change, and our ministry will be able to take on that role. I pray that we will be able to travel the world and continue to support other ministries around the world.
But until then, I have a career.
As many of you know, in the corporate world, this can be a challenging situation. Especially when you are servant of God and operating daily in the working world you see mountains rise before like Mount Everest and they erupt spectacularly like Mount Vesuvius. It comes with serious and challenging situations that test our faith, our beliefs, and the very fiber of our being.
I am facing one of those situations at my workplace.
Let’s Start at the Beginning of this Season’s Chapter
So, a few weeks ago I was led to work on the book Declarations for My Workplace. It is the ninth book in the Declaration series. I never knew that I too would need to immediately rely on the words on those pages.
There has been a tidal wave of changes at my job. New positions. New people. New rules and guidelines. New behaviors. New subcultures. New cliches. And new disrespect or disregard for the people who were there before, in general. Some senior leaders have left, some seasoned and long serving staff have left and others have come in. As such, everyone wants to put their stamp on everything, with no regard for those who were there before.
To say the situation has been stressful is an understatement.
Health issues. Constant headaches. Constant back and forth. Untimely injuries. Hurt feelings. And a sense of walking through the valley of the shadow of death.
So, this morning, my spirit was called to pray earnestly about this situation at my job.
Reflecting on this Workplace Situation
The words from my book took on an even more personal meaning. They caused me to walk through the daily occurrences and visualize my situation in them. Then, the council from God was just bubbling up in my spirit and giving me guidance that I so desperately sought.
They reminded me that:
“When opposition rises—when you encounter bosses who frustrate, colleagues who undermine, or systems that seem immovable—remember: your authority is not derived from your position, but from your identity in Christ. The world will tempt you to break under pressure, to compromise integrity, to retaliate in anger, or to shrink back in silence. But you are not of this world. You are a royal priesthood, set apart to declare the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness and into His marvelous light.”
God is such a before time God, isn’t he?
He knew what was ahead of me and used me to prepare the same help that I would need, unknowingly.
I kept thinking about that.
This was a reminder at how strategic and ‘before time’ – not on time – but ‘before time’, God is in my life.
I pray you will welcome Him to operate the same way in your life.
Do you face these same issues?
I know many of you are facing these same challenges in the workplace. But I encourage you, DO NOT lose your salvation. Do not go outside the character of God. Do not forget the God you serve. Do not succumb to worldly temptation. Do not give up hope.
Go through with Grace.
Go through with your integrity.
Go through and work as unto God. Be a shining example of the character of God.
Even when the pressure presses. Even when the stressors stress you out. Even when they manipulate and go around you; hold on, do not act out but rely on the timely help of God.
Get a Copy of Declarations for My Workplace
As you turn the pages, or go through your e-reader, do not read passively. Rise each day and declare:
- I am more than a conqueror through Christ who strengthens me.
- No weapon formed against me shall prosper.
- The favor of God surrounds me as a shield.
- My labor is not in vain, for the Lord is my reward.
- I work as unto the Lord, not for human approval, and my promotion comes from Him alone.
These declarations are not mere affirmations—they are the very breath of God, shaping your destiny and shattering every lie that says you are less than, overlooked, or defeated.
Be Encouraged
I want to share this other excerpt from my book as well. As the encouragement I share with you is the encouragement, I too meditate on.
I too take this council for myself because:
“No matter the obstacle in front of you. No matter the demons sitting in your office plotting and planning your demise. No matter the challenges that are preventing your promotion. No matter how many times you have tried different strategies, but you want to give up. No matter who is taking advantage of your brilliance, stealing your ideas, and propping themselves up on the business ladder, God is more than them. God is greater than them and God is a better chess master than they could ever hope to be. He is a thousand years ahead of their devious plans against you. It shall be well with you.”
Prayer
May every declaration you speak be an arrow of light in the darkest hour, a banner of victory over every scheme of the enemy. You are not alone; heaven fights for you. It shall be well with you—now and always.

The Invitation

What can you do to take the first step?
Trust God to help you with that first step.
Be encouraged.
Be bold.
