The Christian Life with Colline: A Word from the Lord Through Evangelist Deniellia Gooden
By: Colline Goulbourne, Evangelizing Servant of God
I need to share this message with you all. I won’t keep God’s message of encouragement and comfort to myself. This is the Word of the Lord, spoken through my little daughter, Evangelist Deniellia Gooden.
Yesterday, Sunday, August 3, 2025, my daughter and I were having our usual daytime devotion. As we settled into reading the Word, Deniellia said she wanted us to read the Book of Ruth. That’s how our devotions often go—not always me choosing the scripture. Sometimes, the Lord speaks through her too.
And surely, God used Deniellia in a powerful way that day. As we read and reflected together, a message from the heart of the Father unfolded before us.
The Story of Ruth: A Message of Obedience and Favor
The Book of Ruth tells the story of a Moabite woman—Ruth—who became the daughter-in-law of Naomi. Despite loss, hardship, and uncertainty, Ruth remained faithful to Naomi and ultimately to the God of Israel. Through her obedience, she walked straight into God’s divine favor.
Key Themes and Purpose
The Book of Ruth was written to the Israelites, but its message transcends time. It teaches us that:
- Genuine love often requires sacrifice.
- Obedient living leaves no room for “accidents” in God’s plan.
- Mercy is rewarded with mercy.
- God abundantly blesses those who walk in obedience.
Key Scriptures from the Book of Ruth
Ruth 1:16 – “But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.’”
Ruth 3:9 – “‘Who are you?’ he asked. ‘I am your servant Ruth,’ she said. ‘Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a kinsman-redeemer.’”
Ruth 4:17 – “The women living there said, ‘Naomi has a son.’ And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.”
A Brief Summary of the Book of Ruth
This true account unfolds during the time of the Judges—a period of rebellion and failure among the Israelites. A famine drives Naomi and her husband Elimelech from Israel to Moab. There, tragedy strikes. Elimelech dies, and Naomi is left with her two sons, who marry Moabite women—Orpah and Ruth. Eventually, both sons die, leaving the women widowed.
Orpah returns to her homeland, but Ruth clings to Naomi, declaring her allegiance not only to Naomi but also to Naomi’s God.
This powerful journey of loyalty, obedience, and divine favor leads Ruth to marry Boaz, a wealthy kinsman-redeemer. Through this union, she becomes the great-grandmother of King David—and ultimately, an ancestor of Jesus Christ.
A Revelation from the Heart of a Child: Evangelist Deniellia Speaks
After we finished reading, I asked Deniellia to share what she understood from the story. Her response was divinely inspired.
She said:
“If Orpah hadn’t turned back to her parents and had followed Naomi like Ruth did, she would have received her blessings too. But because she turned back, her blessings were pushed away. Just like God had a plan for Ruth, He had a plan for Orpah too. But Orpah’s turning back shifted God’s plan from her.”
Look at God! He used my 10-year-old (now 11 today!) to deliver this deep truth. Her message reminded me—and now reminds all of us—that obedience brings favor. Turning back from the path of God can cost us the blessings He had prepared.
The Message to All Believers
Through the voice of Evangelist Deniellia Gooden, God is saying “Don’t turn back.” Yes, the road is tough. Yes, there are struggles, pain, hardship, and trials. But keep pressing like Ruth. Keep walking in God’s strength, even when you feel weak.
Just like Ruth, you are walking toward divine favor and purpose. Don’t turn back like Orpah and miss what God has in store for you.
Final Encouragement
This is more than a Bible story. It’s a divine reminder that:
- God speaks through whom He chooses—young or old.
- Obedience is the pathway to favor.
- Turning back might mean forfeiting a destiny God had intended for you.
Stay encouraged. Keep walking forward. Be inspired by the courage of Ruth and the wisdom of a child evangelist—my sweet daughter, Deniellia.
Let this message minister to your heart, and may it awaken renewed obedience, hope, and faith in your journey with Christ.
Be blessed!

Meditate on God’s Word
Many Christians struggle daily to live according to God’s word. But we need daily nourishment. That is why it is important to read your bible daily; even if it is a few verses and meditate on them.
