Why Should I Pray Every Morning?
by: Minister Denise N. Fyffe
You should pray every morning because prayer places God first before the demands, voices, pressures, and battles of the day begin. Morning prayer is not a weak routine; it is a powerful act of surrender, alignment, and spiritual command.
Psalm 5:3 shows that the morning is a sacred time to lift your voice to the Lord and wait in expectation. When you pray early, you command your day to begin under God’s presence instead of under stress, fear, or distraction.
Prayer Aligns Your Day with God
Morning prayer brings your schedule, responsibilities, emotions, and decisions under divine order. Matthew 6:33 commands you to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and everything else will be added according to God’s will.
Therefore, command your priorities to bow to the kingdom. Decree that your day will not be led by pressure, but by the presence and wisdom of God.
Prayer Strengthens Your Spirit
You pray every morning because your spirit needs strength before your day demands energy from you. Mark 1:35 shows that Jesus rose very early, went to a solitary place, and prayed.
If Jesus prioritized communion with the Father, then you must command your morning to make room for divine fellowship. Decree that weakness, weariness, and spiritual dullness will not rule your life.
Prayer Invites Wisdom and Direction
Morning prayer positions you to receive wisdom before decisions arise. James 1:5 declares that if you lack wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously. Command your mind to receive divine instruction, and decree that your choices will not be governed by confusion.
Ask the Lord to direct your steps, because Proverbs 3:5-6 promises that He will make your paths straight when you trust and acknowledge Him.
Prayer Covers You with Peace and Protection
You pray in the morning because peace must guard your heart before anxiety tries to enter. Philippians 4:6-7 teaches you to pray with thanksgiving, and the peace of God will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Command fear, worry, and unrest to be silent under the authority of God’s peace.
Decree that your home, work, body, mind, and relationships are covered by the Lord’s presence.
