Be Lifted Up

RTCLM Editorial Review
Some people pray in sentences. Some pray in tears. Some find that poetry gives them a way to say what ordinary prose cannot quite hold. Be Lifted Up belongs to that last space.
The collection uses poetic prayer as a way of moving through discouragement toward worship, hope and a more deliberate awareness of God. The tone is devotional rather than academic. These are words intended to be felt, prayed, revisited and sometimes borrowed when the reader’s own language has gone quiet.

The David-like quality in the book is less about copying the Psalms and more about adopting their honesty. Biblical prayer is not emotionally flat. David praises, questions, remembers, laments, asks for help and returns again to confidence in God. That range gives Christian poetry permission to be reverent without becoming distant.
The poems are especially suited to readers who appreciate devotional writing but want something more expressive than a conventional teaching chapter. Hardship, betrayal, loss, faith, love, reverence and hope can sit beside each other on the same page because that is often how real spiritual life feels.
Read it as prayer, not performance. A poem does not have to describe your exact situation to open a door into your own conversation with God. Let a line slow you down, then continue in your own words.
This is not a book that demands to be read straight through. It can live on a bedside table, beside a Bible or in a prayer space and be opened when the heart needs language for worship or encouragement.
Be Lifted Up is ultimately an invitation to pray with more of yourself present—to bring emotion, imagination, Scripture, reverence and honesty into the same room.
