Nightmares, Fear & Disturbing Dreams
A frightening dream should be taken seriously without being interpreted hastily. RTCLM distinguishes between ordinary distressing dreams, emotionally influenced dreams, and experiences that may require spiritual discernment.
Begin With Discernment, Not Fear
Nightmares may arise in different contexts. Fear, grief, stress, trauma, illness, medication, disrupted sleep, memories, spiritual concerns, or a combination of factors can influence what happens at night. A disturbing dream is therefore not automatically proof of demonic activity.
RTCLM’s approach is to record the dream faithfully, examine its full context, notice whether a pattern is repeating, pray, compare the experience with Scripture, and avoid sensational conclusions. The goal is clarity, spiritual maturity and peace in Christ rather than fear.
Questions to Ask
- What happened in the dream from beginning to end?
- What emotions remained after waking?
- Is this a one-time experience or a recurring pattern?
- Are there obvious waking-life pressures, fears or memories connected to it?
- Does the dream contain themes that should be tested prayerfully and biblically?
