Revealing the truth about Suicide by Denise N. Fyffe

Suicide often occurs because someone feels trapped in a world of constant despair. Their outlook is very glum. Suicidal tendencies are often triggered by stress, trauma, bullying, unemployment, relationship issues, gambling problems, chemical imbalance, grief and other factors. Many of the persons who take their lives are considered suffers of a mental disorder; including, but not limited to schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, alcoholism or drug abuse.

Those who choose to take their life, find various tools, weapons or places to help them accomplish this. Some of the more popular options include pesticide poisoning, hanging, cutting of the wrists and firearms. Having a firearm in the home, increases the likelihood of it being the weapon of choice in a suicide. Sadly, men are more likely to commit suicide than females. In analysing the world statistics, it is noted that more than 800,000 people committed suicide in 2013. However, alarmingly, there are upwards of 20 million suicide attempts each year. It is important to note that suicide does not discriminate and is inclusive of all races, ethnicity, age, gender and sex.

In Jamaica, there have been no population studies done on this illness; however, our suicide rates can be analysed to link directly to people who have suffered from depression (and our murder/suicide rates). Mercifully, Jamaica has one of the lowest rates in the world, averaging just over 50 each year; however, the majority (90%) of the cases were males. The most popular method was hanging. This, of course, cannot be ignored, cannot be tolerated.

Jamaican Stories about Suicide

I wrote this book, after suffering from depression. I wanted to tell some of the stories, which many of us overlook, including my own. I wanted to paint a clear picture of the realities that many face in this world. Thankfully, writing aids the healing process. It provides an escape. When I look back sometimes, I see the depth of my despair and hurt. For those who have never worn these shoes, I pray this book gives you an insight into the mind of the depressed and those suffering from it. For those who have worn these shoes for too long, I pray you will come to the Jesus Christ and escape that dark lonely prison.

Sudden Death

Sudden Death - the stories bookcover fullSudden Death shares some of these stories.

Sudden Death is a Christian literary work filled with stories revealing people’s struggles with depression, unforgiveness, anger, jealousy, rejection, heartache, abuse, rape, incest and death.

Sudden Death: Loosening Foundations will include an in-depth spiritual analysis, by Michael Reginald (Latter Day Prophesy), that reveals the spirits in operation that lead to the demise of their victims.

When someone commits suicide, we are often left with the question, Why. This book attempts to give that answer. It is often a choice that many people feel that they had no choice in making. Many of those who opt out of life are victims or trauma survivors who suffered from depression.
