The Christian Life: God Was Waiting For Me at Church

The Life of a 21st Century Prophet

I drove up to the sanctuary, taking a few minutes to sing the last bars of the worship song in my car.

These days, I make the extra effort to be in the right spirit, right frame of mind, body and soul, before I go inside my church. I have to be ready, if God wants to use me.

I am aware that it is my season of ministry. It’s been 23 years since I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, and 2016, is the year of release. I do not intend to fail or disappoint.

Pulling the cord from my phone, I sighed and switched off the engine. I grabbed my sweater and phones, locked up the car and stepped towards the gate.

A song bursts out from my heart and I hum the familiar tune, while making my way towards the seat that I will occupy. I greet the minister and placed my ‘kotchments’ on the seat. Before I could fully cover my sleeveless arms with my sweater, I am embraced by the presence of God.

He was there. Jesus, the Holy Spirit was waiting for me by my seat.

Wow!

It felt like hours of communing with Him. I felt His love, His reassurance, everything that He was. Even though I was speaking in tongues, it was the Holy Spirit communicating to me, through me.

I had a stressful week. I was in an accident, issues arose and the Lord showed up to comfort me.

He was waiting for me at my seat. That is the God I serve. For the entire prayer service, I felt His presence. I knew He was still there.

I want to encourage you. God can and will show up for you, when you least expect it. God is the Father of us all and He knows when we are hurting. I encourage you to trust and believe.

God bless.
