Why you must endure many Trials
1 Peter 1:6-7 NLT
So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
The Answer to Why
This bible verse from the Book of Peter, answers a heartrending question, why. Trials are common to Christians and many through this suffering ask this simple but complex question. It is as if the answer would help us to make sense of our experience or help us to bear.
…and It does.
It will also prove who you are and prove whether you are faithful to God. How? If you are being tested to prove yourself to God, then if that matters to you, you will endure the testing. However, if you don’t care, you will forsake him.
God says that we are refined as gold in this process. We are made strong and can therefore represent Him and endure whatever persecution that comes against us.
So that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;-1 Peter 1:7
For You have tried us, O God; You have refined us as silver is refined. You brought us into the net; You laid an oppressive burden upon our loins. You made men ride over our heads; We went through fire and through water, Yet You brought us out into a place of abundance.-Psalm 66:10-12
For the sake of My name I delay My wrath, And for My praise I restrain it for you, In order not to cut you off. Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. “For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; For how can My name be profaned? And My glory I will not give to another.-Isaiah 48:9-11
Jesus endured persecution. He was crucified for our sake and He made it through. He did say that greater things we will do than He on earth because of the infilling of the Holy Spirit. As such, we will endure more, but we will do greater things because of it.
I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.-John 14:12
Finding this verse gives me comfort and surity, being someone who has endured a great many trials, the answer to my whys, is a balm to my soul.
