The Christian Life: God Doesn’t Call the Qualified, He Qualifies the Called!
by: Denise N. Fyffe
In the grand tapestry of God’s plan, it is a remarkable truth that He does not solely choose those who are already qualified to carry out His divine purposes. Instead, God often chooses individuals who may seem unlikely candidates, and it is through His grace and power that He qualifies those whom He calls.
This profound principle reminds us that God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His wisdom surpasses human understanding.
Throughout history, we see countless examples of God calling individuals who were considered unqualified by worldly standards. Moses, once a stutterer, was chosen to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
David, a simple shepherd, was anointed to become a mighty king. The disciples, ordinary fishermen, were called to be Jesus’ closest companions and to spread His message to the ends of the earth.
In the same way, God calls each of us to specific purposes and missions, regardless of our perceived qualifications. He looks beyond our shortcomings and weaknesses, seeing the potential and gifts He has bestowed upon us. It is in the act of being called that we experience the transformative power of God’s grace, as He equips us with the skills, courage, and wisdom needed to fulfill His calling.
As we embrace the truth that God qualifies the called, we are freed from the burden of feeling inadequate or unworthy. Our confidence rests not in our own abilities but in the certainty that God’s strength is made perfect in our weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9).
When we step into the calling God has placed on our lives, we discover a newfound sense of purpose and fulfillment, knowing that it is not our qualifications that determine our success, but God’s empowerment.
Moreover, when we fully surrender to God’s calling and allow Him to work in and through us, we become living testimonies of His transformative grace. Our lives become vessels through which His love and power shine forth, impacting the lives of others and bringing glory to His name.
In every area of life, whether it be in ministry, career, relationships, or service, let us trust that God is the ultimate qualifier. His call on our lives is not contingent on our past accomplishments or failures; rather, it is based on His divine plan and purpose. As we step into obedience to His calling, we can rest assured that He will equip us for every task and guide us along the way.
So, let us embrace the truth that God doesn’t call the qualified; rather, He qualifies the called. May we answer His call with faith and humility, allowing His grace to flow through us as we walk in the path He has prepared for us.
