Why did Jesus come to earth?

When Jesus heard this, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”

The Heart of God’s Plan

The arrival of Jesus Christ on earth marks a pivotal moment in human history – a moment when the divine intersected with the mortal, and salvation’s plan was set into motion.

In Mark 2:17 and 27 (NLT), we find Jesus’ own words that beautifully encapsulate the essence of His mission on earth.

Healing the Wounded: A Divine Physician

Jesus’ analogy of a physician speaks volumes about His purpose. He likened Himself to a doctor who tends to the sick, not the healthy. In this metaphor, Jesus reveals His role as the ultimate Healer, addressing humanity’s spiritual ailment – sin. Just as a doctor treats physical sickness, Jesus came to address the spiritual sickness that plagues every human heart.
