Are You Compromising?

“From compromise to deceit is a small step.”-Billy Graham
Be careful not to compromise your Christianity or what you believe in. Soon you will accept and believe the wrong without even being aware that you are doing it, because you will be blinded and deceived. – Minister Denise Fyffe
1. Know what you believe and why.
The first step to avoid compromising your faith is to have a clear understanding of what you believe and why you believe it. If you don’t know what the Bible says about a certain issue or topic, you will be more likely to accept or adopt the views of the world. Therefore, it is important to study God’s word regularly and diligently, and to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit and other mature Christians. As 2 Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”2. Be careful not to compromise your Christianity or what you believe in.

This quote reminds us of the danger of compromising our faith little by little, until we lose sight of the truth and fall into deception. The Bible warns us that in the last days, many will depart from the faith and follow deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1). Therefore, we need to be alert and vigilant, and resist the devil and his schemes (1 Peter 5:8-9). We also need to test everything by God’s word and hold fast to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21).3. Do not be afraid to stand up for your faith.
Sometimes, we may face opposition, ridicule, or persecution for our faith in a secular world. We may be tempted to hide our light or keep silent about our beliefs for fear of rejection or conflict. However, Jesus told us that we are the light of the world and the salt of the earth, and that we should not be ashamed of him or his words (Matthew 5:13-16; Mark 8:38). He also promised that he would be with us always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). Therefore, we should not be afraid to stand up for our faith and share the gospel with others, knowing that God is on our side and that he will give us the strength and courage we need.4. Seek godly fellowship and accountability.
Another way to avoid compromising our faith is to surround ourselves with other believers who share our values and convictions, and who can encourage us, support us, and hold us accountable. The Bible tells us that iron sharpens iron, and that two are better than one (Proverbs 27:17; Ecclesiastes 4:9-12). We also need to be part of a local church where we can worship God, learn from his word, serve others, and grow in our faith. As Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”5. Pray without ceasing.
Finally, we need to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Prayer is our lifeline to God, our source of strength, wisdom, peace, and joy. Through prayer, we can express our praises, thanksgivings, confessions, requests, and intercessions to God. We can also receive his guidance, direction, protection, provision, and grace. Prayer helps us to align our will with God’s will, and to overcome temptation and sin. As Jesus said in Matthew 26:41, “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”Conclusion
In conclusion, avoiding compromise in a secular world is not easy, but it is possible with God’s help. We need to know what we believe and why, be careful not to compromise our Christianity or what we believe in, do not be afraid to stand up for our faith, seek godly fellowship and accountability, and pray without ceasing. By doing these things, we can remain faithful to God and his word until he returns or calls us home.
