Sunday Sermon: Awake and Embrace the Call of Spiritual Warfare
by Minister Denise N. Fyffe
Brothers and sisters, today I am here before you, not just as a minister but as a witness to the transformative power of God’s call. My journey with Christ began at the tender age of twelve, back in April 1993. From that very moment, my life took a profound turn—I was no longer just a child; I became a soldier in the spiritual realm.
Spiritual Awareness
The night I gave my life to the Lord marked the beginning of an intense spiritual awakening. I remember feeling an overwhelming sense of being pulled in two directions. It was as if a great tug of war had commenced for my soul. Suddenly, I became acutely aware of my flaws, my sinful nature, and notably, my quick temper.
Baptism didn’t just wash me clean; it heightened my spiritual senses, making me painfully aware of the spiritual battles raging around me.
From my earliest memories, I recall seeing demons. As a baby, this terrified me, and perhaps it’s a mercy that I no longer see them as clearly – though that has changed. However, the sensitivity remains—I feel their presence, and I understand now more than ever the realms of spiritual warfare we engage in daily.
Trials and Triumphs
Since that decisive night, my walk with God has been anything but smooth. It’s been a journey marked by trials that would crush the spirit of many—a journey of being tempted, persecuted, hurt, and even backsliding. Yet, here I am, by God’s grace, still standing, still fighting, still believing.
Each challenge has been a fire refining me into both the best and worst version of myself, continuously working to remain on the narrow path.
The devil, my friends, does not fight fairly. He aims to wound us, to take us out of the fight even before we can don God’s armor. This battle isn’t about survival—it’s about service. As Christians, we are called not only to withstand the enemy’s assaults but also to serve actively in God’s kingdom.
To neglect this dual calling of service and battle is to walk blindly into the enemy’s traps.
The Call to Action
Embracing our role as Christian soldiers means recognizing our new identity in Christ—transformed, renewed, and enlisted in a spiritual battle that has eternal implications.
We must wear our armor daily, wield our spiritual weapons with precision, and stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
Conclusion
Choosing to follow Christ is the single most crucial decision one can make. It comes with profound responsibilities—spiritual vigilance and active service. Let this testimony serve not only as a reflection of my path but as a clarion call to all who hear.
To those who have not yet made this decision, I extend an invitation: come and join the ranks of those who choose to serve in the light.
To everyone today, remember, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Let us then march forward, not in our own strength, but powered by the wisdom and might of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Step into the fullness of your spiritual awareness.
Be vigilant.
Be brave.
And above all, be faithful.
The battle is real, the time is now, and the victory is ours for the taking.
I hope you find today’s sermon helpful and applicable to your life. I pray that the Word of God works effectively in your life.
Be encouraged and stay blessed.

I invite you today to take a deep look at yourself and reflect on your life. Are you searching for something more? Are you satisfied with how things are today?
