Sunday Sermon: Your Spiritual Authority and Inheritance
by Minister Denise N. Fyffe
Brothers and sisters in Christ, you need spiritual authority to walk through this Christian Life. To be enabled in boldness, to stand firm in faith and to navigate the challenges which are sure to come. You are now a new creature, old things have passed away and Jesus Christ is not only your Lord and Savior, but he is also your anchor. He has lent you his authority and you must trust in that fact.
Opening Declaration
Lift your hands and declare with me:
“I am a child of God. I am seated in heavenly places. I walk in divine authority. I possess a kingdom inheritance. I will not be silent. I will not be defeated. I am who God says I am!”
Let us begin with the Word of God:
Luke 10:19 (NKJV) says:
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Romans 8:17 (NIV) states:
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ…”
Finally, Ephesians 2:6 (ESV) says:
“And raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
You Were Born into Authority
When you gave your life to Christ, you didn’t just join a religion, you were reborn into a royal lineage. You became a citizen of heaven, a child of the Most High, and a soldier in the army of the Lord.
You were not saved to be silent.
You were not redeemed to be weak.
You were not chosen to be defeated.
You were saved to rule and reign with Christ.
The enemy fears a believer who knows their authority. Because once you know who you are, you stop begging and start commanding. You stop retreating and start advancing.
What Is Spiritual Authority?
Spiritual authority is the divine right and power given to you by God to:
- Speak His Word with boldness
- Rebuke the enemy
- Heal the sick
- Declare truth
- Shift atmospheres
- Enforce heaven’s will on earth
You are not operating in your own strength. You are operating in the name of Jesus, backed by heaven’s armies.
“Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” — Matthew 18:18
What Is Your Inheritance?
Your inheritance is everything Christ died to give you:
- Eternal life
- Peace that surpasses understanding
- Victory over sin and death
- Access to divine wisdom
- Provision, healing, and favor
- The indwelling of the Holy Spirit
- Power to fulfill your purpose
You are not a spiritual orphan. You are a co-heir with Christ. That means what belongs to Him, belongs to you.
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life…” — 2 Peter 1:3
Activate Your Authority
The Christian Life can be particularly challenging. So, one of the first lessons you need to learn quickly is how to activate and walk in your spiritual authority. It’s time to stop living beneath your spiritual privileges.
You must activate your authority through:
1. The Word of God
Speak it. Declare it. Stand on it.
📖 “The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” — Ephesians 6:17
2. Prayer and Declarations
Your voice is a weapon.
“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” — James 5:16
3. Faith and Obedience
Authority flows through alignment.
“Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee.” — James 4:7
4. Boldness in the Spirit
Don’t shrink back. Rise up.
“The righteous are as bold as a lion.” — Proverbs 28:1
Prophetic Declarations
I declare over you today:
- You will no longer walk in confusion.
- You will no longer live in fear.
- You will rise in spiritual authority.
- You will claim your inheritance.
- You will speak and heaven will respond.
- You will decree and it shall be established.
- You are a kingdom ambassador. You are a warrior. You are a child of fire!
Closing Prayer
Father, I thank You for every believer under the sound of my voice. I declare that their eyes are opening to the truth of who they are in Christ. I break every lie of the enemy that has kept them bound. I release boldness, clarity, and divine confidence. Let them walk in power. Let them speak with authority. Let them claim their inheritance and fulfill their divine assignment. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
Be Encouraged
Beloved, you are not ordinary. You are not forgotten. You are not powerless. You are anointed, appointed, and authorized by heaven. Walk in it. Speak from it. Live through it.
Your spiritual authority and inheritance are not coming—they are already yours.
I hope you find today’s sermon helpful and applicable to your life. I pray that the Word of God works effectively in your life.
Be encouraged and stay blessed.
