The Christian Life with Colline: Only God Can Do It

In Isaiah 45, God speaks directly to Cyrus, the Persian king, calling him His anointed one—even though Cyrus did not yet know Him. The Lord declares that He will use Cyrus for a divine purpose: to free the Israelites from Babylonian captivity.

God makes it clear: He alone opens doors no one can shut, levels mountains, and makes a way where there seems to be no way. Even when people do not recognize Him, God is still working through them to fulfill His purpose.

“I am the Lord, and there is no other; there is no God besides Me.” — Isaiah 45:5 NKJV

Looking in the Wrong Places

Today, God is reminding us through this chapter that we often look in the wrong places for what only He can provide. We look left and right, searching for:

  • Help
  • Strength
  • Healing
  • Hope
  • Deliverance
  • Peace and Joy
  • And most importantly, Salvation

But when we seek these in idols—whether material things, false beliefs, or even people—we come up empty. God is saying loud and clear: “You won’t find it there. It is only through Me that these come.”

“Truly, You are God, who hide Yourself, O God of Israel, the Savior!” — Isaiah 45:15 NKJV

God Alone Deserves the Glory

God doesn’t share His glory with idols. He doesn’t tolerate substitutes. In Isaiah 45:23-24, He declares with divine authority:

“I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,
And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath.
He shall say, ‘Surely in the Lord I have righteousness and strength.’”

— Isaiah 45:23-24 NKJV

This aligns with the truth proclaimed in the New Testament:

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” — Philippians 2:10–11 NKJV

No Idol Can Save You

The Lord is saying today: No idol can heal your body, save your soul, or grant you true peace. No person or thing can offer what only the Living God can.

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” — Psalm 34:8 NKJV

Let go of what’s powerless and embrace the One who holds all power in His hands.

A Personal Call to You

Maybe you hear God calling your name right now. Just as He called young Samuel in the temple:

“Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ And Samuel answered, ‘Speak, for Your servant hears.’” — 1 Samuel 3:10 NKJV

Please—do not ignore His voice. Don’t push away that soft still whisper in your heart. He is reaching out, offering love, salvation, and transformation.

Final Encouragement

Be encouraged today. Turn to God and invite Him into every area of your life:

  • Your healing
  • Your deliverance
  • Your financial need
  • Your mental battles
  • Your broken heart
  • Your need for salvation

Only God’s righteousness can bring lasting change. Only God’s power can make the impossible possible. And only Jesus Christ can save your soul. Continue with Be Careful of the Idols in Your Life for a related warning about looking to anything else for what belongs to God alone.

Let today be the day you say yes to the One true God.

Be blessed!

Meditate on God’s Word

Many Christians struggle daily to live according to God’s word. But we need daily nourishment. That is why it is important to read your bible daily; even if it is a few verses and meditate on them.
