Dreams and Visions: Elephants, Rhinos & the Spirit of Intimidation
By: Minister Denise N. FyffeDreamer, welcome as we continue with another installment in our series on dreams and visions. Each dream or vision the Lord grants is a living parable, filled with symbols that sharpen our discernment and deepen our faith walk. Today’s dream sets a dramatic stage outside my former church—111—where elephants, a rhinoceros, and a dark pursuer paint a vivid picture of spiritual intimidation, discernment, and deliverance.
The Dream
“I was on the street beside a building that felt like PGT 111 Church. A huge elephant appeared, and several more followed, moving through adjoining rooms. I slipped inside; in the room behind me a rhinoceros entered, and people tried to trap it with a bench. I warned, ‘Do not block it in,’ sensing it only needed a way through.
Suddenly a black-clad man began to follow me. The hallway turned into a steep incline. He opened his mouth wide, as if to consume me. I opened mine and released a loud sound, yet he still pressed forward. I shoved benches toward him while sliding backward and cried to a man ahead for help—straining to escape.”
Interpreting the Symbols
Elephants are Weighty Spiritual Movements
Elephants signify strength, memory, and generational issues. Their orderly procession through rooms suggests massive spiritual matters—responsibilities, blessings, or ancestral themes—now passing through.

The Rhinoceros – Misunderstood Power
The rhino embodies raw authority. Trapping it would provoke needless chaos. Your warning shows discernment: not every intimidating force is demonic—some represent God-sent power that must be allowed to pass.

The Black Pursuer – Spirit of Intimidation
The menacing figure with mouth agape illustrates demonic intimidation aimed at swallowing your voice. Your loud cry represents spiritual warfare—praise, prayer, and prophetic declaration.

Sliding Benches – Struggle & Community Aid
Benches, often symbolizing fellowship, become makeshift weapons. Pushing them toward the pursuer shows using every spiritual support (church, Scripture, intercession) while seeking help from others.

Biblical Insights
-
Discernment: “Do not block it in.” Like Paul discerning the girl with a divining spirit (Acts 16:16-18), we must test every intimidating presence before reacting.
-
Authority over Intimidation: Luke 10:19—Jesus grants us authority to trample every power of the enemy.
-
Help on the Incline: Ecclesiastes 4:12—Two are better than one; community lifts us when ground grows steep.
Practical Takeaways
-
Test the Spirits. Pray for clarity to know whether a force is a God-sent assignment or a demonic intimidation.
-
Use Your Voice. Worship, proclaim Scripture, and refuse silence when darkness opens its mouth.
-
Lean on Fellowship. Benches remind us of church support—don’t battle alone.
-
Allow God-ordained Power to Pass. Sometimes what looks threatening is heaven’s provision moving through.
Closing Encouragement
Beloved, elephants may thunder through your corridors and rhinos may rattle doors, but remember: greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. Stand firm, discern, and declare. Let every bench of fellowship become a bulwark, and let every loud cry testify that Christ has already won the victory.
