Sunday Sermon: You Will Prevail Through the Fire
by Minister Denise N. Fyffe
Life can feel like you are walking through fire at time. But do not be discouraged, you will prevail through the fire. When others set upon you like thieves in the night, you will prevail. When they set a trap for you, they will fall into the pit that they have made. When it feels like a tsunami collided with a volcano and erupt in your life, God will allow you to stand in it like the Hebrew boys stood in that fiery furnace.
Man is not more than God. God created man!
“They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you,” says the Lord, “to deliver you.” — Jeremiah 1:19 (NKJV)
This scripture has echoed in my spirit, in prayer, in prophecy, and in whispers from the Lord. It has shown up through friends, through strangers, through the voice of God Himself. Again and again — “They will fight… but they will not prevail.”
Last week, a dear friend reminded me of this truth. She said, “Yes, the warfare is heavy. But God trusts you. He allows it because He knows you will obey.”
That stayed with me.
Understanding the Fight
There are seasons where we must sit with God and ask hard questions:
-
“Why me, Lord?”
-
“Why this battle?”
-
“Why so much pain?”
And yet, when we truly listen, God answers. His Word gives clarity:
“To whom much is given, much is required.” — Luke 12:48
“God is faithful… He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able.” — 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)
You see, God doesn’t trust just anyone with the fire. But He trusts you. He knows what He’s building in you. He knows the people tied to your obedience. He knows your impact goes beyond what you can see right now.
Since launching this RTCLM Ministry circa 2012, I’ve watched how simple obedience has grown into a global outreach. And even in weakness, even in pain – God has been faithful. So yes, the enemy has drawn near. But here is the promise: he will not win.
This Fight Isn’t Just Yours
Every week, we receive prayer requests from people crying out in battle:
-
A woman weeping over abuse.
-
A family on the edge of financial ruin.
-
A man battling suicidal thoughts.
-
A believer tormented by witchcraft attacks.
-
A young person rejected and abandoned.
-
Someone whose health is crumbling.
- Someone battling temptations into sexual perversion
The pain is global. The fight is real. But I say to you, “you are not alone.”
How Do We Survive the Onslaught?
1. Stand on What You Know
I’ve walked with God through decades. In every valley, I’ve seen His hand. That track record gives me faith.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1
2. Talk to God Like He’s Right There
I don’t always pray with fancy words. I talk. I cry. I whisper. I shout. I ask questions.
And I let Him speak. He does.
“Call to Me, and I will answer you.” — Jeremiah 33:3
3. Receive from Whom God Sends
Sometimes it’s a stranger on YouTube. Sometimes it’s a friend with a prophetic word. Sometimes it’s a teaching that meets you in the midnight hour. God knows how to minister. Be open.
4. Stay in the Word
For me, it’s often Psalms. Lately, it’s been Proverbs — wisdom and understanding for this stretch of the road. So, you feed your soul. Let the Word anchor you.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105
5. Honor the Isolation
God has His own way of drawing us aside. Some call it loneliness. I call it Holy Isolation. It’s where I hear Him clearly. It’s where I heal. Let Him draw you in. Don’t resist the hush.
6. Guard Your Spirit and Energy
Ministers, leaders, intercessors — hear me: you cannot pour from an empty vessel. People take a lot out of you. But you must stay tapped into the Source.
“Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” — Isaiah 40:31
Encouragement for You in the Fire
Beloved, I’ve lived this sermon. And I still do. I know what it is to lie awake and weep. To feel misunderstood, overworked, and spiritually attacked. To juggle sickness, persecution, and pressure all at once. But I also know what it is to overcome.
So I remind you today:
-
You are not alone.
-
You are not forgotten.
-
You are not powerless.
-
You are not defeated.
Even Daniel, David, or even Job had to go through his fire. But their end was greater than their beginning.
Be Encouraged
Here is the final Word. When the Fight Is Fierce, Trust the Fighter. You are not fighting alone. You don’t need to. God is with you. He goes before you. He stands beside you. He fights behind the scenes. And He never loses.
“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” — Exodus 14:14 (NKJV)
Closing Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for Your promise that the gates of hell will not prevail. Even as the battle rages, You remain our refuge, our shield, our deliverer. We stand on Your Word. We rebuke fear.
We command every storm to be stilled in the name of Jesus.
Pour strength into the weary. Release healing to the sick. Send angelic help to those surrounded. And may every reader, every listener, every worshipper remember: God is with you. And He will deliver you.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The Invitation
I invite you today to take a deep look and reflect on your life. Is God calling you to be baptized and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Have you been ignoring him? Have you been facing immense hardships and challenges? What can you do to take the first step and trust that he will help you to take the next step?
Be encouraged.
Be bold. Answer the Call.
In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
