Sunday Sermon: Happy Love Day
by Minister Denise N. Fyffe
Look here, don’t watch the hype! Remember you too are worthy of love, and you are not forgotten. God has not forsaken or forgotten you. So many of us watched Valentine’s Day pass by and no one to say, I love you.
Well, I am here to say, I LOVE YUH!
Sometimes we need a reminder that love is not a holiday. Love is not a bouquet. Love is not a box of chocolate. Love is not a social media post with two people smiling for the camera but crying behind closed doors. Love is not a performance. Love is not a show. Love is not a competition to see who can post the biggest balloon or the fanciest dinner.
Love — true love — is a Person. Love is Jesus Christ.
And when you understand that you stop feeling like you are missing out. You stop feeling like you are behind. You stop feeling like you are invisible. Because the truth is, you are seen. You are known. You are cherished. You are held. You are loved with an everlasting love that does not expire on February 15th.
Some of you woke up this week feeling lonely. Some of you scrolled through your phone and felt a sting in your chest. Some of you said, “God, what about me? When is it my turn?” And I hear the Spirit of the Lord saying, “Child, I have not forgotten you. I have not overlooked you. I have not abandoned you. I am working behind the scenes in ways you cannot see.”
You see, the world celebrates love with temporary things. But God celebrates love with eternal things. The world gives you a card. God gives you a covenant. The world gives you a date. God gives you destiny. The world gives you a moment. God gives you a lifetime. The world gives you butterflies. God gives you belonging.
So yes, it might feel good to get roses. But roses fade. It might feel good to get chocolate. But chocolate melts. It might feel good to get a card. But cards get thrown away.
But the love of God? That is the one thing in your life that will never fade, never melt, never be thrown away, never be replaced, never be forgotten, and never be taken back.
Some of you have been through relationships that broke you. Some of you have been through friendships that betrayed you. Some of you have been through marriages that wounded you. Some of you have been through seasons where you gave everything and received nothing.
But hear me today: God’s love is not like man’s love.
Man’s love is conditional. Man’s love is inconsistent. Man’s love is moody. Man’s love is selfish. Man’s love is fragile.
But God’s love is steadfast. God’s love is patient. God’s love is healing. God’s love is protective. God’s love is pure. God’s love is faithful. God’s love is everlasting.
And sometimes, God will withhold certain relationships because He refuses to let you settle for counterfeit love. He refuses to let you attach yourself to someone who would drain you, distract you, or destroy you. He refuses to let you give your heart to someone who cannot steward it.
So, if you are single today, hear me: You are not rejected. You are not unwanted. You are not undesirable. You are not forgotten. You are not behind.
You are preserved. You are protected. You are being prepared.
And if you are married but still feel lonely — because yes, loneliness can live inside a marriage — God sees you too. He knows the silent tears. He knows the quiet disappointments. He knows the prayers you pray when your spouse is asleep. He knows the longing in your heart for connection, affection, and understanding.
And He says to you today: “My child, I am with you. I am your comfort. I am your strength. I am your peace. I am your companion. I am your healer.”
Some of you are widowed, and this season brings back memories that make your heart ache. God says, “I am close to the brokenhearted.” Some of you are divorced, and you feel like you failed. God says, “There is therefore now no condemnation.” Some of you are heartbroken, and you feel like you will never love again. God says, “Behold, I make all things new.”
So today, I am not here to preach hype. I am not here to preach fairy tales. I am not here to preach clichés. I am here to preach truth. And the truth is this:
You are loved by God with a love that cannot be measured, cannot be earned, and cannot be lost.
When Jesus stretched His arms wide on the cross, He was saying, “This is how much I love you.”
When He carried that cross up the hill, He was saying, “You are worth the weight.”
When He took the nails in His hands and feet, He was saying, “I choose you.”
When He rose from the grave, He was saying, “Nothing can separate you from My love.”
So yes, I came today to tell you — I LOVE YUH! But more importantly, GOD LOVES YOU MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE.
And if nobody texted you this week… If nobody called you… If nobody bought you anything… If nobody checked on you… If nobody said your name… If nobody held your hand… If nobody made you feel special…
Hear me clearly: You are still loved. You are still valuable. You are still chosen. You are still God’s beloved.
So, lift up your head. Straighten your back. Dry your tears. Square your shoulders. And walk like someone who is loved by the King of Kings.
Because you are.
And as you go through this week, let this settle in your spirit: The love of the Lord is your balm. Your healing. Your comfort. Your anchor. Your strength. Your reassurance. Your covering. Your peace.
Be blessed. Be encouraged. And walk in love — not the world’s love, but God’s love.
Happy Love Day!!

The Invitation
I invite you today to take a deep look and reflect on your life. Is God calling you to be baptized and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Have you been ignoring him? Have you been facing immense hardships and challenges? What can you do to take the first step and trust that he will help you to take the next step?
Be encouraged.
Be bold. Answer the Call.
In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
