The Christian Life 2020: Take The Risk, God Defends You

Revealing the Christian Life banner

In life, there is always risk.

Every decision we make, we won’t know the outcome.

Every time we choose a particular route to work, or we choose to take a particular fruit or vegetable from the grocery aisle. Every time we make the decision to turn one way on the road or go at a particular moment. Every time we choose one bank over another or choose one church over another – we take a risk.

That decision was made by us, we can never take them back.

The same risk exists when we deal with people.

Every time we choose to help someone. Every time we share a secret. Every time we befriend and invite people into our hearts and homes. Every time we choose a husband or wife. Every time we choose to correct action or ignore a mistake by someone – we take a risk.

We have no control over what happens.

Our decision was based on the things we see, our interaction with people, the information we analyzed – that was provided. For a Christian, a large amount of the time that decision is based on faith in God.

The servants of God, who are fully yielded to Him have no choice but to rely on Him.

David trusted God when he decided to step out in the wilderness and take care of his sheep. When he was attacked by lions, bears and every other prey that sought to kill his flock, God gave him the weapon and cunning to defend himself.

David also had that same trusting faith when he went out to fight Goliath. And you know he had a great victory there!

You see, God allows the small challenges and threats to prepare you for the big ones. This is when He is greatly magnified and you learn the full extent of trusting God and knowing that He protects you from that risk. But, nee I say he often allows His children to be affected by it for a time.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” – Psalm 27:1

Remember, challenges in life help to strengthen your spiritual muscles.

And even, if the situation was like that of Jesus, where He had to trust God because he was going to be crucified – just know you too will be delivered and vindicated in the end.

God is not a man.

God is not limited by time.

God is not limited by weakness.

God is not tempted by the devil.

God is all-powerful.

God sees all, knows all and is everywhere.

He knows you.

He knows the people that attack you.

He knows the motive and intent of people who surround you.

He knows what they will do and what you will do. He, however, wants you to trust Him. I must say this can feel impossible especially when you see the hurricane, tsunami, and earthquake all churning in front of your eyes.

“Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6

But He is the great I am, and He says do not fear.

God has said do not fear in the bible hundreds of times – approximately 365 times – one for every day of the year :). Why? Because He is able to deliver you. So when you have faith in him, trust that there is no real risk with God.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.– Isaiah 41:10

God promises us that he will never leave us nor forsake us. – (Hebrews 13:5)

“Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.”Proverbs 29:25

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” Psalm 34:7

Be Encouraged

So, stand and trust in Him when there seems to be a consequence for doing something that God says to do.

After nearly four decades on this earth, I have come to learn that all my actions have been sanctioned by God. Every mistake. Every mis-judgment. Even when I followed his directive and it seemed to me to be the worst outcome. Those I served, loved, helped, feed or simply prayed for – even when they persecuted me – I knew God allowed it.

Remember the scripture, all things work together for good to those who are in Christ Jesus.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

– Romans 8:28-31 KJV

When God tells you to help someone, do it.

When God says take your last and give it away, do it.

When God says do not retaliate against those that steal from you, mock you, jeer you – do it.

When God tells you to serve someone, no matter their shortcomings, do it.

When God says shut your mouth when people insult you, embarrass you, take you for a fool, spite you, abuse you, lie against you and set a trap for you – do it.

When God tells you to stand and let someone persecute you, do it.

When God says be silent, do it.

When God tells you to stand, put down your arms down and not defend yourself, do it.

When God tells you to pray and fast, do it.

The battle is not yours, its the Lord’s. Be glad when you are persecuted for God’s sake.

So, take the risk. Love unconditionally. Pray steadfastly and trust that God sees all, knows all and will take care of HIs children.

The risk is not yours, it’s the Lords. Risk is apart of life.

We face thousands of decisions every day. Serving God is no different. Doing what he says, when He says to do it, is no different. Even if you do not see the eventuality or favorable outcome in your lifetime, trust that He is still the sovereign God.

I encourage you, as I encourage myself. Be blessed.
