I have come to accept that we are failing God in the simple everyday things, every day.
I am continuously noticing the areas where Christians are compromising on their beliefs – myself included. It is such a common and misplaced practice nowadays that if you dare speak against it, you would be made to feel as if you are in the wrong.
This is a season where many Christians are going to fall away and its a simple, yet intelligent tricks like these that the devil will use to cause us to ‘almost make it’ to the kingdom.
Now, let me explain what I am getting at.
You are a Christian, yet you do not find anything wrong with people overly indulging in alcohol, even when it seems like they just have a few drinks a day.
You are a Christian, but you are addicted to watching Game of Thrones, True Blood, 50 Shades of Gray, Scandal, Real Housewives etc. and missing bible study, YPE and prayer service.
You are a Christian, but you see nothing wrong with beating your child, to the extent that you bruise or cut them.
You are a Christian, your family, relatives or mother ain’t got no food to eat, but you don’t reach out to them to feed them.
You are a Christian, married, but you don’t see anything wrong with sustaining malice with your spouse when you have a disagreement. As a matter of fact, you supply justification for doing so.
You are a Christian, but you don’t see anything wrong with taking some office supplies.
You are a Christian, but you condone bad behaviour from your friends and give excuses for them that ‘ cho man, a so dem stay’.
The blood of Jesus is against ALL that. It is a lie and prominent deceit from hell.
The devil is a liar, a deceiver, a murderer, a covetous rebel who wants to take us into eternity with him when he is cast down into the pit of hell.
We need to wake up.
Rise up and begot some forgiveness for our deeds.
Every day we compromise our Christianity in some way, and this MUST not be. I say we because I am in there and I am working towards heaven like a fat kid running after an ice cream truck to get some chocolate dipped ice cream cone on a Sunday evening.
We need to wake up and stop compromising our Christianity. With Boko Haram and Isis on the prowl, we need to strive towards progress, if not perfection in Christ. We need to be a true example and not a fake.
The bible says:
Luke 10:27 ESV
And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
Romans 12:1-21 ESV
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. …
Colossians 3:5 ESV
Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
2 John 1:7-11 ESV
For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward. Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.
Matthew 6:33 ESV
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
James 4:17 ESV
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
Meditate on God’s Word
Many Christians struggle daily to live according to God’s word. But we need daily nourishment. That is why it is important to read your bible daily; even if it is a few verses and meditate on them.
